Improve your shackle angle

spent a good while yesterday putting these in and i have a question:
i still use my hitch as a tow point in the rear but i didn't put it back on when i installed my brackets. so today i went to remove the bolts that hold the bracket on/hold the hitch. and the bracket moved making one of the bolts close to impossible to rethread. Do i now have to redo all my work and put in the hitch when i put in the brackets?

Aren't you supposed to weld them up as well as bolt them in?

You should be able to loosen all your bolts (including the stock shackle bolt) then put the hitch on and tighten everything down. And yes once you have your mind made up on where everything will end up you need to weld them in.

I have them and still need to install them...

Anyone needs to do any mod to the shocks or replace with a longer one? I hope I wont need to do that, but I will if it max out so i'll move the lower mount up higher, they're hanging low to start with though.

You will probably need to move your lower shock mount up, or get longer shocks.

Your shock will be extended at least 3/4" from the lift from the kit, and you will have a lot more down travel. I would suggest flexing without the shock to determine where you need to move the attackment on the axle.

Consider changing your priorities. You use NAXJA, so you oughta pitch in with your $ too! You will save a lot of your valuable money by learning what works and doesn't, not to mention NAXJA discounts, and the pride of being a member of a brotherhood that cares about it's members.

If you don't want to pay the few dollars that don't go into anyones' pockets anyway, quit lurking!!

My comment was addressed to the guy who wants to spend money but not join NAXJA, (bottom of Page 1 of this post) not to the manufacturer of the product on this post.

very interested in this. I have about 6.5 inches in the front and about 5.5 inches in the rear. I did a bastard pack from a lifted mj. I also took the mj shackle. It adds about and 1" itself. But my shackle angle now is almost vertical. Will this level me out and give me better flex and ride?

they should level you out and give you a better ride and flex. i immediately noticed a better ride after i put mine in. went from a vertical shackle angle to this:

Sounds like this is the perfect solution for you.

i am helping a friend install a set of these this weekend.
do we weld the upper plate to the original shackle box or is it just held in with the 4 bolts? i can't tell in any of these pics.

so to be clear: rosette weld the 2 holes on the front & the 1 hole in the side, fill in the corner as well as stitch the channel section to the box cover section?

I dont know whats the deal with this but I am having problem with this on my XJ

When I flex, the shackle dont drop very much due the the bushings dont actually made to have that MUCH of torsion movement.

the part that bother the hell out of me that after I jacked up right rear bumper with hi-lift jack to change the tire on right rear then i dropped it down. I was like what the hell, the XJ have MAJOR leaning right now. the right side's much higher than left side and the axle has been shifted to the right lot too.

What the deal? :soapbox:
