Today was my first full day off in two weeks. While I enjoyed it, I almost kinda missed having work to go to. I spent half the day looking for projects.
 
Heading to Detroit to pickup a 2dr 95 XJ in the morning. Just paying impound fees and he's signing the title over to me. Has new smitty built bumpers front and rear. Took a little head on into a wall though. Thinking I'll just part it out.

I put a fully rebuilt 98 front axle in this just 3 months ago. To bad another 2dr dies
 
A part out thread will be coming soon. The wife is pretty fired up about getting another jeep so I have to at least break even on it soon.

I'll be selling the doors and glass. It had the nice bumper mounts in the front so I'm sure the frame rails are toast

If I can break even on the body parts and wheels and tires I'm keeping the rest as spare parts. Good powertrain and axles
 
Post a video of you smashing the rear glass on FB XJ sites and watch everyone cry. That's what I'd do.
 
Finally got bit by the coil on the Taurus. Luckily, it's nearly 50 degrees and Ford mounted it so that it's a 15 minute job to change it. Almost like the engineers knew they were using a shitty part.

Oil changes and routine maintenance in shorts and tee shirt. Weird weather for late December but I'll take it!
 
New jeeps home. Idk if I can save the bumper on the front but the back is perfect. I think matching smitty built set. Front frame and core support is junk though or id just cut the fenders and bring it to WF. Broke the gearbox also. But I drove it on the trailer so that's a win in my book. Worth the 10hr 430 mile round trip.

89 in fuel and 240 for towing and storage. Not to bad a deal. I didn't realize they impound your vehicle anytime you crash on the interstate in or around Detroit no matter what. Goes to police impound yard. That's a horse crap money scam.

Detroit is broke, so there is a way for them to make some money.
 
If the city was making that money maybe. But these are privately owned yards who im guessing are in bed with the PD or someone in the local getting there pockets lined but in no way do I see it going to the city.

I try to forget how bad that place is, then I drive through again. It's sad.
