This truck i bought has a good running 318. The thought just came to me. Has anyone ever swapped in a chrysler v8 into an xj?

That's what I tell all the ladies.....my HP to weight ratio with my 4.0" has all sorts of power and torque!!

True. Ive never not had enough with the 4.0 in a jeep. Its other areas that usually fail me.
EDIT: After reading Bloose's thread this seems much more simple. I like the idea of cruising inclines and highway speed in OD

190 hp and 650 lbs
A chevy LS weighs 450 lbs and does 325-425 hp depending on the flavor. A jeep 4.0 is a great engine for a lot of reasons but power to weight ratio is t one of them.

Haha yes.
Just took my last LS build to the track on friday. 1/8 mile 06 GTO w/auto went 7.44 at 96mph with a 1.79 60' and spun ALOT. Getting the new M/T "street" slicks mounted this week. Hope it makes a better pass...

Flipped that green XJ I bought a couple weeks ago. $1100 profit, just cleaned it up, used starter, radiator cap. Not bad for a days work.
Not sure if I posted this here or not, but the Commander dropped a valve seat. Seems to be quite common with these 5.7's. I'm going to pull the heads and hope the cylinder is good. If it is, it's getting the heads done/replaced and a piston, timing chains while it's opened up too.
Hoping to have less than $2k into repairs.
Considered an LS swap, but the cost and f'ing around with that is too much.

Ouch, that sucks Dan. There was a Commander listed on CL recently for 2k. It said it had a motor noise....must have been it. A lady I lease some ground off of has a rolled 1/2 ton dodge 4wd that's a early to mid 90s sitting in their field. It has a v8 but not sure beyond that. She wants to sell it all. It was a light roll bc her husband never drove over 40 mph lol.
