Important

Sold my XJ last night and paid off my tool loans this afternoon. Moving from the shop I've been at for 4 years for the ford dealer. Too much adulting in one week

new job has been kicking my ass but im liking it. right now doing preventative maintenance which im liking because its basically give me a list of jobs you want done and i go do them. i don't care that much for the general maintenance which is wait for something to break. although so far something breaks every 10 mins so its been pretty busy.

im taking my new guy punishment. ever preventative maintenance job that is on my list is the dirtiest, shitiest, hardest, crammed up in a hole, type of job. kinda funny though, i go to school right after work. no pit stop at home. so all this week im going there cover in grease and dirt

Miles? Crew cab? 4x4?

Just an extended cab. With 188k on the clock. Trucks are crazy priced out here right now. Its at a dealer. We went to look at a shit box Dakota and this thing was just traded in today talked them down from 6 and kinda got a job offer. Lol

My buddy bought a nice clean 02 f250 v10 2wd with 140k for 8k

I paid 3600 for my 2000 ex with 150k v10 4x4...but have another 1500-2k in it

Depending on how 'beat'...the price isn't awful I don't think.

What's the need/use for the truck Rew? That will make a big difference in its value to ya.

No. I bought the exact same thing as my first F250 and hated it. Barely had enough power to pull itself up a hill on cty hwys let alone a trailer with anything in it. I think the one time a pulled the xj with it I got 5-6mpg and that was after I had the heads machines, new timing components and gaskets from the block up. Sold it in less than 6 months and bought the 7.3, never looked back.

5.4s are great in 1/2 tons but they have no place in 3/4 tons, find a v10 or 7.3.

Friend of mine had an f250 with the 5.4 in it and loved it. Had 4.10 gears in it and still got 11-12 mpg towing. I say just use your best judgement on it. If it's gonna work for you and doesn't really need a whole lot of work look into it. All comes down to what you are gonna be using the truck for.

I don't regret buying my F250. MPG is good, minimal headaches, a little more expensive on preventative maintenance because it's a diesel.

If I bought a truck today I'd buy a 1/2 ton. Most of them are getting comparable mileage to the diesel trucks, easy on the oil changes and filters and I only tow 4 times a year.

I love my f150, have not towed with it, but I can tell it has more than enough power to get the job done.
