Important

A Trans cooler and synthetic fluid.

A big one. Stacked plate.

The biggest that will fit in the shroud where the stock one mounts.

I towed my junk behind a 4.8. Power isn't an issue. it got like 12 MPG.
better than ol tRusty.
brakes were a little lacking, brake controller and working trailer brakes are a must.
They like to rev, so 4-5 grand up a hill was the norm. Didn't seem to care.

I hated the seats in my ram.

What does the 4L60E need to live in a tow rig?
What changed on the 5.3 in 07?

They hate heat, and the OEM sunshell isn't the strongest. On the flip side you can buy a monster in a box trans kit for around $800 (IIRC), and rebuild it yourself with (for the most part) common hand tools save for a few easily home made pieces used to compress a few of the springs.

Displacement on Demand came in on the 07+ 5.3ltr. They like to use oil, and IIRC have some other oiling issue related to the DoD thing.

GMT900 callipers, and rotors will bolt onto GMT800 trucks. The rotors are an inch bigger, and require 17in or larger rims, but provide a poor mans upgrade to the stopping power. From what I've gathered the GMT 900 brakes are just a good as a GMT800 big brake kit. Plus you can step up to higher quality GMT900 kits over just the stock stuff if you wished.

Shopping for a new to me tow rig. I can't find anything that really excites me.
Whatever I get, will not have the lack of comfort that the dodge had. Looking at Chevy and ford this time.
I had my mind set on the Chevy 1500HD until I did research and realized the horrible fuel mileage that the 6.0 gets. A consistent 12 mpg for a "1500" = boo.
I wish I had ecoBoost money. Haha

Ask and receive. This is legit:

460 and a c6?

I can only imagine how much fuel it consumes, but totally worth it for the awesome that is a 4x4 1 ton extended van.

That is pretty badass.

I did browse some E350 diesels on CL too

If you could find an excursion in the sub- 5k category...I think they are a great buy.

10-12 city...12+ hwy w/o trailer, 10-11 with trailer

I couldn't touch a diesel...even with 200k miles...

You've seen what they can haul in the back...

They are comfy.

I had a 460 with the ZF. I would budget 3-4 19 gal tanks of fuel to make the 200 mile trip to the Badlands. I didn't drive it except to haul as the fuel mileage was so bad. I couldn't imagine it with a C6. It was so bad that a 302 with the Mazda manual was a big improvement everywhere BUT hauling a full trailer. The Expedition with the 5.4 and the 4r100 beats both of them even pulling loaded trailers. Not to even mention the much better more useful interior. The V-10 has more power but for me that extra power doesn't offset the extra expenses of it.

Had a small bonfire may 24th, we put a sprinkler on it for half hour following day to make sure it was out and has rained a couple times since. Get home today and it's smoldering wtf.

Thinking it has something to do with the couple quarts of wmo I used on it, getting down in the coals and just helping them stay lit. But it's been a week and a half.
