Important

She drove it 250 miles home and still liked it this morning, so I count that as a win.

Lol @ big and black.

Kman I feel your pain, friggin' CL people. This guy held it for me since I committed to coming up and looking at it. He claims 6 or 7 more people contacted him after we made the appointment. Whether it's true or not, I appreciated him not selling it out from under me since we had to drive 4 hours to see it.

People in New England were scared of rain today (minimal ice). Drove from Portland down thru Boston to Rhode Island over thru Conn. Hopefully finishing up early and going home on Thursday.

it was better to the east side of ny, so conn was probably pretty good...i have nerves of steel when it comes to winter driving and my ride through the hudson valley this morning was one of the very few times i can remember where i thought about pulling over. it was very slick...once we got on the thruway, it was 100% fine

where in conn are you? i might be up that way tomorrow

The recovery company I work for put me on alert for the little weather that is expected up there. It is what I call a winter storm.

Portland was kinda bad this morning. By the time I got to the NH boarder it was just rain, haha. I had no problems in my Ford Taurus rental, hydro planned here and there. Nothing bad, but probably enough to scare soccer moms. I guess they are getting snow to the north now, nothing out of the ordinary for winter weather, certainly not buffalo accumulation.

I am in New Haven tonight then headed to Stamford then up to hartford.

Anyone ever converted a manual XJ to an automatic?

Let's say that I was going to do this on a 92...MJ...

In observance of the K.I.S.S. method...

Am I limited to a 91-95 AW-4

Say I had a donor...wiring harness to plug tranny in? The tranny computer?

mac 'what kind of mess is it?' gyvr

He finally got back with me that he sold it...

That one was an auto...

mac 'got a lead on a 2wd manual' gyvr

you could use an 87-90 one, but then you've got 21 spline output.

find ken steins aw4 thread, he's got what interchanges with what. I think they changed the internal speed sensors in 98.
the wiring should be there, you'd need the TCM to match the trans and the flexplate that matches the 92 computer.

I would be interested in the 2wd ax-15 for it's guts to repair the 4wd one I've got with no first. It would be nice to have a spare trans again.

We went to loook/buy a Chevy crew dirtymax on Monday, thing is an LTZ and loaded ballz out. drove good, had exhaust, intake and EFI live on it. When we went to the bartering part the dude started acting weird and decided he did not want a check and wanted to know if I could get cash...I told him i was 5 hours from my bank and I dont travel w/ $$$K on me  He then wanted it wired to him the next day and then he would mail me the title. he did not have a title for me to look at..seemed fishy. We passed on it and stopped in Columbia on the way home and picked up a Ditrymax Crewcab 2500 LTZ...way happier with that decision and purchase. Now the fun and expensive part of getting it the way we like it, gota get a B&W hitch, step bars, wheels n tires, leveling kit, weathertech mats, bedlined, airbags...the list keeps getting longer and longer.

Yeah I'd like to keep with the kiss method...

96+ goes OBDII which the MJ never was, I just wasn't sure on the mix of computers and stuff to make a newer trans work...and well, I try to avoid the pre-91 stuff as you know :)

I think 91+ was an electric signal to the speed sensor? earlier was an actual cable...

I found an MJ that the guy is calling a 93...but it has the right 4.0 HO badges on it...told him I would come look at it on Friday afternoon...a short time later he pulled the ad after it was up for only a few hours...so I don't know if he pulled it for me or what...

texting him tomorrow to confirm Friday...so we'll see...

he also has a 91-95 XJ for a decent price...might just do a package deal...

but a 91+ auto 4x4 short bed MJ would be sweet...

Why? Not digging the dodge anymore?

The Dodge is great on power, but sucks on comfort and fit and finish. I have enough other work trucks that do the job and they are already torn up, the Dodge has a bit of value still left in it bc it is not all torn up or ragged out. I have always wanted a nice Duramax but they were just out of our budget. Since camille went back to teaching and we have expanded our cattle #'s, we were in a position of better finances to get a little nicer truck this time. This will be a nice companion to our new camper for our travels. With Case getting bigger by the day, it is nice to have a true crew cab in comparison to the quad cab on the Dodge (it is not a megacab).

What year? I got a 08 duramax LTZ mid summer. I love it, great on road trips and comfy even with 100k miles. When bonus time rolls around it is getting efi live and an exhaust. Probably a couple other small things here and there.
