Fun day at Redbird despite jeep issues. Swapped injectors Monday, fine all week. Went to leave this morning and my jeep threw a cylinder 4 misfire code. Cleared out and went on about my drive. It started sputtering and backfiring on the way there. Parked the jeep and rode with Rew. On the way home it backfired a couple times then smoothed out. Thoughts? There seem to be quite a few things that could cause it ranging from an O2 sensor to cap and rotor.

Already told you what to do. Swap the injector to a different cylinder and see if the misfire moves.

Backfire through the intake or exhaust?

Why did you swap injectors? Seems like you introduced a problem with a solution you didn't need.

What injectors did you put in? Any other codes?

The 95-99 dodge neon four hole versus our one hole injector is supposed to be a good modification for smoothing out the idle. In general it they are supposed to make things smoother.

Flex's new ones are reman'd and he may have had one sticking and allowing additional fuel to the cat where it would ignite, causing the tailpipe pop under heavier load.

The misfire code seems to be generic, my opinion. I don't know how a 1997 could identify an exact cylinder issue unless it senses the injector malfunctioning.

I know why people do it, I wanted to know why he did it. I don't mess with things that aren't broken.

Well, most of the time. Usually when I do I break things that weren't broken.

Home and hungover.

Napping and football the rest of the day.

Just for shits and giggles I looked up ecoboost f150 on cl to check prices, I guess they are still too new for me.

I was having leak down issues, my idle was rough and I figured I would give them a shot. All was well until it freaked out yesterday. My buddy came by and plugged his Snap-on Ethos up to it and everything is normal now. It idles better and starts better so I dunno, hopefully that was a fluke.
