Important

Re: Re: Important

Caution: Heartless post

Why is the first instinct to quitting a job being how to collect unemployment? How about finding another job instead of having someone else pay your way?
Technically you pay for your unemployment. I feel you should not be able to collect more than you pay in. I also feel it should be last resort and not milked.

Hi!!!

Unemployment assistance is insurance.
I pay into the state based on individual employee's wages.
The pot is not unlimited, up until Dear Leader Oblahblah took over it was limited to six? months. Then it went to a year with "emergency" extensions for another year.
Unemployment assistance is NOT welfare, I drew it every winter for years during layoff time. But if you quit a job, or get fired for 'being an idiot' then you are not eligible to collect it. I have heard of people leaving a job due to harassment or other reasons like that and still being able to collect.
Anyone can file a claim the state will contact the previous employer to verify the reason for termination and they state their side of the story. If you are denied, you may file for a hearing where you can give details for your claim and the previous employer will have to explain their reason for denying you your claim.
Lar was laid off one time from a shitty employer and they denied her claim, she fought it and won.

Hi!!!
I agree 100%...my wife has been employed full time since 2007 and lost her job 2 weeks ago. She jumped on the first job she could find, and it's not good for her to be there. Hopefully she will find something ASAP, but July and august are my slowest work time of the year. I would rather not risk falling way behind. She has had some post pregnancy complications that have required more doctor visits than we expected. We pay 100% of our own healthcare out of pocket, and our insurance hasn't been the best at covering some of the things we have had to do...sometimes life doesn't go as planned

WTF is this? A kinder gentler Sean?

I don't like it.
GFY kinder gentler sean and bring back the asshole.

OK Sorry, you are right.

Hey Alt, suck it up.
Take your whining and sniveling over to GLJT.
Perhaps they will have a fundraiser for you with a whack-a-mole game and a clown that blows balloons up with his ass.

This made me lol...thanks for that

If people were asking you to do things that were illegal would you stay at a job? She lost her last job because the company was in trouble and took the first thing she could that sounded reasonable so she didn't have to collect unemployment. My wife will put up with a lot but asking her to break the law is crossing a line...she got hired within a week of losing her last job, I have no doubt she will find something again right away.

She had no control over losing her other job and it came without warning. So if you were in the same situation you would knowingly do something that could put you in jail for fraud? I'm pretty sure no one on here would...if she reports it the hotel closes then she is out a job anyway. Don't assume people who want to leave a job are lazy...I would rather not go into details about what is going on, but from what I have read if you leave a job for your own personal protection or because they were forcing you to do a job you weren't hired to do, you can still collect.

I've spent most of the last 8 year's being self employed and busting my ass to get where I am today. Never once did we turn to any sort of assistance when work dried up for me...in fact it was never an option. We did what we needed to do to survive...now with a baby and a new house, it's not an option. She admitted to me after the first two days that she thought it was a mistake...now at the end of only her first week she has fully realized what she stepped into. I will spare you the rest of the details since you will probably just assume what you want to anyway, but I will assure you this, quitting is not her first instinct

Most states have a certain time frame which you can take a new job and find out its a pile of shit and leave it without repercussions in regards to unemployment. The best thing to do is call or go to New York's Dept. of whatever agency handles unemployment issues.

Same with Jennifer. The next place she got hired, they horrendously misrepresented what the job was, she quit after 2 weeks and was able to get unemployment reinstated.
