Important

started tearing down an outboard i bought last fall...i paid 125 for it and in running condition they are worth 1200-1500. i knew it had been submerged, but its worse than i thought. any small engine guys on here? would you carefully tear this apart and spend the 300-400 for new bearings, rings, hot tank and ball hone job or part it out. i can probably grab about 800 at least in parts by splitting it up as long as the lower unit checks out...here are some shots of the power head

What engine is it? It looks pretty shwasted but ive brought worse back from the dead. Youll be in for the whole rotating assembly. Crank rods bearings and pistons.

What is your intended use of said motor?

The pics make it look worse than it is, but it's a 2005 Johnson 15 two stroke. My intent would be to sell it, which is why I'm leaning towards part out, but if it ran well I might keep it. Not sure I have the time right now to rebuild it though

I spent an hour picking this since I just moved it and Jed has complained a couple times that he lost the keys.

Guess where I found the keys 5 mins after getting it open...

Three feet away, and he looks at them every time he drives the thing...

Lock picking tools.
Industrial staples ftw.

for those of you who have sold a rig that you've had a long time...did you have any regrets after selling it?

even though i thought it could never happen, someone came to look at mine today and texted me afterwards to say they were very interested and to contact them when i get back (don't worry dan, i told them your parts were coming off and were non negotiable)

now i have a week to debate it...i told them i would not take less than my asking price, so don't try haggling. basically i listed it at $1750 and that price would go up depending on if i put a different set of long arms on it or not...its more that i could get parting out my rig...the only thing of value on mine is the trac bar, tires and the front coils...other than that its a high mileage beater. i'm not sure its cool to suddenly pull the plug on the deal, so i feel like if they really want it for what i'm asking, i probably should let it go. i just cant really imagine not having it...10 years and 240,000 miles in the drivers seat. (well drivers seat number 3 :)

Re: Re: Important

I need the front marker/turn signals from that thing. (The vertical ones)

I know nothing about it. That one is in Sheffield behind a mechanics shop and has been there at least three years.

I'm not sure what to do about the floor in my jeep, really there is only one bad spot but its in a crappy location and I haven't gotten a good answer on whether it's fixable or not.

If I decide to get rid of mine I will be tracking down who owns the waggy and looking it over if possible.

There is this thing just down the road too that is like to look at.
