Important

Cut the lawn for the first time with the new mower. 18hp v-twin Briggs.

I cleaned the carb, new plugs, fresh gas. Runs fine but as soon as you engage the pto you can only mow in 2nd due to it bogging the motor down.

I'm going to borrow a compression gauge and see where I'm at

And that's my cool story bro of the day
those have a tendency to pop head gaskets.

Pulled the engine from the Waggy apart to see what happened.
nice work.

those of you who junkyard...what are some easy pull items that can be sold for a little profit?

just found 3 yards within 10 miles of me. might have some splorin to do...
you find MJ in there, you call me.

Good morning!

i have seen 5...it is crying in the basement

dont tell her i told you that:eyes:
I've see the same, with 2 dogs and she dragged the rabbit cage down there too.

I would have left the rabbit, he had his own roll cage.

those have a tendency to pop head gaskets.

I asked dad since he dealt with both of the vangaurd 18 horse motors at the flying club.

he said:
make sure the shroud isn't plugged with grass. I guess they do that frequently. THen they overheat and lose power, and eventually they pop the head gasket. He's done the head gaskets on both the mowers at the club.

Somewhere here on the server I probably have the service manual for it. He said that the torque sequence on the head bolts is super goofy.

The prices at my local pick n pulls are crazy high anymore. ZJ disk brakes, WJ knuckles, and explorer 8.8" were good investments back in the day but now sell cheap and don't have a good profit margin. One tons and NV4500s seem to be the JY gold these days but hard to find.

Hmm interesting. I'll look into that

I also noticed it's blowing a lot of fuel out of the carb. Before and after it was cleaned. And the hose to the air cleaner which I assume is a crankcase vent is pumping a ton of blow-by. I need to get a gauge on this thing.

The guy I took my mower to for my oil leak said that usually lots of blow by means you'll have more in rebuilding the mower than the mower is worth...

Agreed. If it's not too bad I might just take a ball hone to the cylinders and throw some new rings in it standard bore.

I also found a newer Deere 185 with 4 flat tires and no ignition switch in my shed I may try to drag out today.

No clue who's it is but I'm using it if it's in my $950 a month shed...

What size and type of screw holds the iac valve in? I have a manual somewhere but with move when I got married, it is Mia. I got a rough idle and this is my first area to clean as it fixed the idle issue last time.

Honda clone FTW.

The IAC bolts are torx like t25 IIRC.
or dremel and flat bladed screwdriver.

have finals tonight and tomorrow night. so that sucks but rocks all at the same time.

noticed on FB this morning that my school is without power and they are rescheduling finals for Friday. so far just the early classes. i am really hoping it comes back on. last thing i want to do is take a final on a friday night.

also, there is no classes on Friday night, so im wondering if power does stay off when the heck are the scheduling night classes...

i assume power will be on tho, so no worries.....well......except for the whole finals worries.

Re: Re: Important

Told the parts guy I needed a 51 amp fuse. He didn't get it.

Well since we have been on the subject lately of tractors I have a question. I have a tractor with a 20hp v twin briggs and straton motor on it. After I have ran it for a while and it gets hot and warned up it doesn't want to start back up if I shut it off. I have to wait until it completely cools down then it will start. It will turn over just fine but won't fire

The liftgate bumpers. I need 4 if you find them.

You might need to text me a pic.

Are there two or four per jeep?

mac 'need to make a trip soon' gyvr

Nate nailed it. Head gasket is gone on cylinder #2. Parts ordered

And I managed to rip the steering and deck off the Deere snatching it out of the shed. It's sitting DOA on the side of the shed now hahah

It's been harder and harder to make good jy money ever since pullaparts have been opening, everyone seems to go get their own shit anymore
Yep... and people are cheapasses. I got people offering me $150 for a kingpin dana 60 at a swapmeet last spring. Told em to get ****ed, of course... I get em for that price, but that's not swapmeet price. That's "lurk the yards for 4 months and then lie in broken glass filled mud eating angle grinder sparks and bashing your knuckles" price. People want d60s for $150, they better go find and pull them themselves.

I got multiple offers of $100 for ZJ disc swap sets a few years ago but it's such a bastard to get em out (most local yards pull the wheels and drop the jeeps right on their axles on the ground) that by the time I'm done, I could have pulled something else more worth my time.

Front 60s (aside from awful dodge balljoint ones) sell well if you find the right buyer.

nv4500s always sell well.

Both hard to find though.

I don't buy anything for the prices I sell it for. Similarly, I usually don't sell to friends, because I pull stuff like that to make a stack of money, and I'd feel bad making that kind of money off a friend. You want a d60 or an nv4500, you come to the yard with me, I'll be more than happy to help pull it, then you pay for it directly and it goes in your car and we're square.

I've bought nv4500s for 170 bucks and 270 (including clutch/flywheel/PP/pedal box) and sold for 900 and 1300 respectively. I didn't sit on either for more than a week, either. I literally buy any nv4500 I find for under 300 bucks in good condition and then it goes on craigslist. People frankly pay stupid money for them, mostly because dodge autos blow and fullsize truck bro-ricers get tired of nuking them.

finally got around to checking out the t-case this weekend.

i took all the linkage off and was able to shift the tab on the case into different gears. played with a couple different spots and drove around to see how it acted and case seemed to be doing its job.

must be the linkage.

just ordered that novak cable.

this was pretty much the only major thing i needed to get done before Harlan. i have other parts to go on still but nothing that is a must have for wheeling.
