Important

So...I found a d44 housing shafts and gears/carrier for $100 for an xj. Its about 2.5 hours out of the city so I ask the guy if he can drive 30 miles south ti meet me for an extra $25. He tells me he doesn't have a vehicle reliable enough to make it 30 miles...really? If I had vehicles that couldn't make it 30 miles, I would light them on fire

here's a little trick i heard of but haven't tried yet for craig's list... when you have to meet some one "half way" tell them you live twice as far as you do. so the half way mark is really only like 5 minutes from your house. :D

in this case it wouldn't have worked for you because he didn't want to go anywhere, but just thought I'd share.

I never meet anyone more than 5 minutes from home unless I am going that way anyways... and never meet anyone less than a mile from home either.

I don't want craigslist weirdos knowing where I live. And I don't want to spend forever driving somewhere only to have them flake on me.

For those days when you're hot and your jeep breaks.

There is a vacant Home Depot a mile from me that's perfect for meeting CL people. I don't go to them normally...if I do, its in the company car with inexpensive fuel.

Yesterday a guy put a rear window for a 79 Ford Bronco that I sold him in the back of a newer 5.0 sweet mustang.

mac 'CL deal, he was decent' gyvr

I usually use a local gas station parking lot. Honestly my actual driveway is real hard to find (it's on a dirt road, two turns from the nearest road with an actual sign, the directions are mostly landmark based, and various GPSes disagree about what the nearest signed street is actually named) so I usually just say "look, giving directions to my house is impossible because it's way out back in the woods and there aren't any street signs, how about we just meet at xxxx."

I have actually had people threaten violence after they bought some parts which I described in detail (including the exact drivetrain combination of the donor) because they were stupid and didn't realize they wouldn't fit their drivetrain till they went to install them, and never asked me if they would fit (I would have told them they wouldn't) so there is no way I let anyone know where I live when selling parts unless I already know them. I told you exactly what it came from... if you ask me, I am more than happy to talk your ear off about what it will/will not fit and how... if you don't ask me, fitment is entirely your problem.

I agree. The local Truckstop near the Interstate works for me.

Well I did sell the guy $650 worth of parts he then realized he couldn't use... but it was his damn fault. He literally never told me what it was going in (a chevy with a cummins swap) until he was blowing up my phone asking why it wouldn't bolt on, and I gave everything down to the engine, trim codes, transfer case, mileage, and VIN of the vehicle it came from :repair:

got this in an email today...scammers are getting lazy

I put 4 16" GMC HD wheels in the trunk of my company car at a CL deal last week. All of his neighbors came out to see what was going on :D

I'm amazed at what will fit in my company car...

If you're trolling CL looking for a tranny, make sure you're searching in the right section. That could get awkward . . .

Sure can, i once ended up with a 4r100...
