Dan how's that tow? 5.3 or 4.8? I been thinking of just getting a dolly for the XJ, and just pulling the rear DS... I know I wouldn't have brakes, but I also won't have 1500 lbs (or whatever) of trailer weight either...

5.3, and it tows great, it's no diesel, but does all I need it to do. It didn't like the Vail pass. I've used a dolly behind this with an xj behind and I couldn't believe how nice it towed.

Tranny is starting to get weak, but it's got 160k on it.

The only thing I might do different is buy a suburban, but they don't fit in the garage as nice.

Some 231s lock the front and rear shafts in neutral. If they do, you should be fine as long as the vac disconnect works right, but drop the front or rear shaft just to be safe... seen pics of jeeps (iirc one from the SEC most recently) that burnt to the ground due to improper towing with an old style np231.

I have thought about building a tow bar for the 95, but I have seen too many horror stories about it to commit. On the other hand, if thousands of old people can do it with a motorhome I should be able to lol.

Flat towing scares the crap out of me...

There is a chance I will make WF after all... not with the jeep though.

What airport should I shoot for and would anyone have a passenger/back seat available?

I tried towing the popcan flat down without pulling the driveshafts to Tellico in 2001...

I had to make '2wd' hubs for the front because the front gearless locker wanted to cause issues...

Then I had to pull the rear shaft because the tcase was spinning the front shaft...

Chicago, Ft Wayne, Indy

Just depends on when and where for a ride to the park.

Hmmmm.

BOS-ORD for 215 round trip if I arrive Wednesday and leave Sunday... that is even cheaper than my last trip.

You guys may have to put up with a LOT of nerd yap. Nate coming too? :gee: :compwork:

Or MBS on the 4th. It would be interesting to have Dylan and Ken in the same vehicle. :)
This sounds like a good plan.

I left from MBS when I went to New Jersey. Think I spent 2 hours in Detroit.
