Important

Alright.. maybe some of you fockers know accounting.. I know I am missing something really simple here...

Its about distribution of cash up liquidation...

Lyle and Fisher are partners, sharing gains and losses equally. They decide to terminate their partnership. Prior to realization, their capital balances are $15,000 and $7,000, respectively. After all noncash assets are sold and all liabilities are paid, there is a cash balance of $16,000.

First, what is the amount of gain or loss on realization. $6k is the loss because of the capital account balances.

Second, How should the gain or loss be divided between the Lyle and Fisher?

Third, How should the cash be divided between them?

Googling this problem yields a link to Clegg... but I am not giving them my credit card number for anything.

Whoever started with 15k gets 10,909.09
Whoever started with 7k gets 5,090.91

If I have to show my work.

7k+15k = 22K
7k/22k = 31.81% invested
15k/22k = 68.18% invested

68.18% x 16k = 10,909.09
31.81% x 16k = 5,090.91

So, am I a bad parent that I'm not concerned that a car seat we have expires next month?

My wife seems to think that I'm an awful parent for not wanting to spend the money on another seat that she's going to use til Oct when we can buy ANOTHER car seat that faces forward.

mac 'how does it expire overnight' gyvr

Buy a convertible car seat that is rear and forward facing and turns into a booster seat for the 8/80 pound requirement.

I lost the arguement to reuse the car seat/stroller combo that we had for the boys because of the expiration date (plus it was a boy's color, duh).

I also recently lost the arguement to flip her around foward facing like I did with both boys when they were 1 year old (because we're better educated now versus 7 years ago).

So I made her come up with a seat that did all those things that I was happy with. The boys both had Recaro seats, but they don't do rear and forward facing. As much as I wanted to dig my heels in, 3 things really swayed my thought process:

1. We own a $40k car, a $40k truck, a $20k motorcycle and a $2 jeep.
1. The seat is $270.
2. My daughter is priceless.

Drive the truck and Jeep one handed. Company car ends up being whatever is the most comfortable at the time.

we aren't talking about 7+ year old stuff either.

it expires next month and will maybe be used til oct when she turns two...

I understand having money in this and that, but a stamped date on something doesn't mean it expires over night.

One hand during normal driving Two hands if its shitty out or banging corners in the Bimmer.

Well just had the wrecker pick up the car to take it to the shop. Was getting tired of trying to figure it out. Hopefully they can figure out why it won't start. Gonna get it back then trade it for a grand cherokee. Hopefully it doesn't take to long to get fixed.

Actually, it kind of does. Technically at 0001 the day after the date :D

Now, what you really mean is it doesn't necessarily get unsafe the day after the expiration date. I certainly agree with that. Without some sort of inspection into fatigue of the components and the materials that it's made out of, it's completely impossible to say that every car seat will become unsafe on a certain day after its manufacture considering all of the variables.

But you don't know if it is unsafe either. Think about what you'd do if that seat failed in an accident and your kid was damaged because you didn't spend a hundred bucks on a new seat for the next 9 months. Improbable? Yeah. Impossible? Nope.

I would assume (yeah, I know) that those dates have a lot to do with the care people use while owning them. Your vehicles are garage kept, keeping them out of the extreme heat/cold, therefore prolonging it's life. G stays at home, not using the belts daily, creating less wear on them.

I wouldn't think twice about using it for another 9 months.

LJ is getting an alignment in the morning!

Would a 99 escalade be a 6.0? There is a guy selling one up in Boston for 1500 but it needs a tranny...not that I have time for a tranny swap but that seems like a good flipper

Driving question. Who drives one handed and who drives two handed? (Street driving)

50/50 between one and two hands.. Never on top(I'm not chick).... 9 if I'm rocking one hand.... only one on 3 if the left hand middle finger is busy.

Working it in a car and it will be 9-3, always pull down, never push up.

So I just got home from work and noticed that when I step on the brake pedal with my jeep off the dash lights come on. I'm hoping it has to do with my hatch-dash light that has been on for a few days. I guess im opening it up tomorrow and playing with a test light and getting to the bottom of it..

I bet you have a bad ground somewhere. I've got the same thing going on, pretty sure the connectors in the rear left quarter area or a bad ground are at fault. Need to fix that tonight actually.

Good Morning Sam!

You know what make it even better???????? This time tomorrow morning I will be in route to pick up the new XJ! Collin even linked me to a set of 32's in the same town I am going to pick the XJ up at as well. I need to find a set of wheel spacers and I will be in business. Picking up the steel for the bumper on monday and will have a winch bumper fabbed by next weekend (going to be in New Orleans next week a few days so that will hold things up). I am excited to get this home and knock out the whirlwind project and then get back on the C10 project.

Cheese "projects!" Man
