Important

hey all...very serious question. i need to get in and drive my 98 xj and my keys are 100 miles away. its a really long story, but it will end with me paying lots of money if i cant drive it tonight. i have extra back windows if needed, and i have an extra ignition switch if needed...i have broken into it before, but i've never had to start it without a key. i've been successful starting pre 96's and driving them with no key...no clue on a 96+

pm me if you don't want to share secrets in the public view ;)

When my XJ was stolen they did it pretty easily with just a screwdriver. Jammed it in pulled the tumbler out and then just used the flat head to start it.

I've jammed my screwdriver in a few things and got them turned on as well....some were cold starters though.....

upon further inspection (and mostly my ignorance) my wj actually doesnt have any sort of clutch fan, because as it was stated...it doens't have a tow package. i have narrowed down the issue to the crappy ass and expensive fan relay that chrysler engineers chose to use...that being said, its super easy to add a clutch fan to a wj, so since i have the clutch all i need to do is find a parts wj and pull the fan and bolt it all on...cheap insurance for the 0331 head

found the fuel leak...the stupid connectors were rusted to hell on the fuel lines. had to cut the fuel line in the back to get them off.

Pretty sure i have one of those relays in my garage. i changed it 2 or 3 times on the wife's. i can look tonight for you if you want it.

to chance them you cut a little access hole in the bumper under the headlamp. its pretty easy.

i have it. its no use to me anymore., if you want it instead of adding the clutch style fan. my WJ was a 02 the part# on it is a standard RY330t

here is the access hole i was talking about. starts at 2:10ish

I bought one but having s spare would be great

I used plan c....I knew my ignition tumbler was pretty worn so I went to home depot and bought o key blank. I used a jigsaw to roughly shape it like my key. It didn't work on the doors, but with a little persuasion and some filing on the sidewalk it works like a charm in the ignition...

The vacuum line going into the cab broke off and I'm chasing it in the cab...so far I haven't found it and I'm too drunk to keep taking stuff apart...

mac 'just dashing' gyvr

I'm afraid that is what i'm gonna have to do to our Jeep to track down our squirreling vacuum line
