Important

Say a guy wanted to swap a AW4/231 out of a 92 XJ into a 95 2WD XJ. Wiring compatible or will it be a cluster?

You should hook up with Ken Stein he'd probably know without having to look.
He has a "All you wanted to know about the AW4" thead going in tech.

My gut tells me that the trams hookup is probably just a matter of getting the connectors right for the year.

"All the post whores are at Attica" :D

I figured he would chime in at some point :D

Parties...
Hate them.
GF loves to host.

The only thing good about them is that the house gets cleaned.
Guess who gets to do that :/

Yesterday's chores:
Paint area under new window ( we had a huge sliding door replaced with a set of living room windows)

Today's chores:
. Shampoo carpet.
. Clean upstairs bathroom.
. Make storage rig for wood.
. Try and cleanup wood pile.

Oh and because my dog was operated on for a tumor, I also get to play nurse.

And my XJ sits at my place with a messed up ring gear :(..

Could be worse...
Could be raining ;)

I'm doing that with my build. Silver jeep was 2wd. Need 4wd trans, all the shift linkage.

The difference w your projects is 95 may be obd2? Don't know if it would be plug n play.

hey people smarter than me...

im 200 miles from home...jeep is running like poo. started on the ride home...stumbles all through rpm range but gets a little better around 2500. tested coil...hot hot spark...tested 3 plugs...hot hot spark. swapped in spare tps, tested fuel pressure (45psi running and at prime). its really running like the timing is off. cps tested low, cam pickup was replaced at one time and i may have used cheap sensor...i'm guessing the cam pickup or the cps is goofed up. it gets worse the warmer the engine gets...backfires some under load. diesels a bit on shutdown. i really think its one of the two, but i've never had a cps that half assed worked. they either work or dont...right?

92 and 95 are obd I

Should be a direct swap.

Good to know. Starting the paperwork to try and make this 95 my new chassis. Alabama rig, 100k miles, zero rust. Hard part is going to be getting the title; it was towed in and nobody has claimed it yet.

Rotors go bad, you learn to carry a spare.
I had one totally self destruct on the way to Colorado Fest.
There was nothing left inside the cap except white dust. The Cap was a carbon tracked mess, and I suspect that's the only reason it was running.

Surprisingly, it ran well until put under the load of climbing a pass.

It amazes me how well a 4.0 will run with a shitty cap and rotor. I was getting 22+mph highway last summer and HAD to replace the cap, rotor, plugs and wires last winter. I don't think all that corrosion could have accumulated over the course of a few months...so it had to be bad while I was getting super-Jeep mileage.

Went from running like a top to running like dook almost overnight.

My red jeep is back together after a new head gasket, it runs great, other than the fact its still burning coolant.

I looked for cracks, I must have missed it, which explains why the head gasket didn't have a noticeable flaw.

I need a pre 00 head, if anyone has a good one laying around.

I'm getting real sick of working on this pos

Ron you may be right....cps tested bad but I didn't think that was right since coil spark was good...only checked 2 plug wires yesterday. Checked a 3rd today and it had weak intermittent spark...parts store here I come
