Just curious as to why you would make a statement like that? Its almost like you are trying to start something, someone points out a positive and you shit on it.

Craig, turns out the stock spacer I have has only two of its bolt holes left, the third is elswhere. I do have a stack of spare steering box bolts however.

If you can't find one in time I will see if I have enough bolt sleeve sized DOM and a bit of scrap plate and throw together a durango box compatible steel one or something.

I will probably be back in Putnam on Saturday/some other day since my buddy's yota's front axle ADD acted up and left him with no 4x4 at work Monday, but should be around other days.

just had a tech quit over here. he got a job as a mechanic for the city he lives in. this is the second guy within 3 months. the last guy was replaced with a guy who has not graduated from UTI yet, he frickin sucks every job takes him around 3 days to finish. i hope for the sake of this company they replace the guy that just left with a seasoned mechanic. we have another guy talking about leaving too, he has already started his own shop just working nights.

if you and sam would shower more, people might stick around...just saying

:)

Rew, our shop laid off a guy a month ago because we didn't have the work for 4 guys, now one of the remaining 3 is quitting. So that leaves just myself and the senior tech. I hope we get the guy back we laid off or at least another competent tech.

Since our shop was bought out by a MUCH larger dealer organization there is less than 10 of the original employees left from about 25 starting out. I don't see many of the remaining staying too much longer cause its like a sideshow here. Completely unorganized and chaos. Customer Service is down the crapper and people don't care.

Who has replaced a heater core in a late model xj?

It's all about getting the dash out of the way on the pass side. Stearing wheel will need to come off but you can use rachet straps to pull the pass side back far enough to get it done without pulling the whole thing. Lots and lots of little screws.....

Ram" It's almost worht being cold" Rod.....I did say almost.......

I bought a new heater core for my crapcan XJ two years ago now...

still isn't installed... I might do it soon. I disconnected the heater core coolant hoses a year ago since it was leaking pretty bad and drove all last winter with no heat rather than do the heater core. I probably will think that was dumb when I get around to doing it.

That's crazy, we have 6 plus the guy that left. and 2 oil guys. they are not as busy as they would like but they have work most of the time. how the hell do we stay so busy? i hear story's like yours from a lot of the bigger dealers.

Ken should write a "How to keep your" XJ "alive for the Complete Idiot" book http://www.amazon.com/Keep-Volkswagen-Alive-Step-Step/dp/1566913101 :D

Wow Ron, and to think you were elected to a national bod position (that you quit) and have been a member for how long?

If you have discontent for the club to the point that you would say out loud that there is no benefit to being a member, then sir you seriously should reconsider your usefulness here.

I will personally refund your current membership if you would go away.

Your molehill is more of a mountain.

It's dead honest fact, and I guess it's whatever you want to make of it.

If you want to make a mountain out of that mole hill, go for it.

.!. :/ .!.

Still working at the Subaru dealer Phil? You guys should be busy with all the #4 ringland failures on STI's! :roflmao: Subaru is a real dick about that too. I know a guy WHo had not touched his engine and they said he overrevved the engine causing the failure.....um, isn't the computer supposed to prevent that?
