get full leafs or build a new bastard pack using a "new" used set of leafs.

From the pics of your jeep you really need new leaf springs, yours are very far gone.


Nothing wrong with using aal's, you're not building an extreme rock crawler.

We have add a leafs in both of our Jeeps. Not a problem using them. That's all I've ever used.

Yeah, they are they are also the reason I haven't gone wheeling much. Which is why I bought a "new" used set off of Dan. Jeepguy91 has offered to sell me a lift kit and I am thinking of taking him up on the offer. Between the leaf packs from dan and the lift kit, I may wheel more.
 
I have no problem with add-a-leaf but no reason to start with an upside down "U"
 
Thats the crappy part about tires. It's one of those few items on a car that you almost always have to deal with someone else working on.

I have a tire guy at a real tire shop. I pay more but he doesn't jerk me around. It's worth it.

I also have a tire guy, but he's local and not national. I average an 8 hour trip to go wheeling and if I have a tire problem on the truck it's a lot easier to find a sams and get it fixed.
 
I do have a technical question. I filled up my dads truck today and it is only getting 10mpg, that is mostly city with some highway. At most, having a riding mower in the back. What is the easy things I can do to get that up? I am thinking plugs and air filter (I think he did the air filter already) at the minimal. It is an 01 Ram 1500 with the 5.2.

2wd or 4wd?? The 4wds get awful, awful fuel mileage all the time. We had a couple at work that averaged 10-12 from the time we got them.

D30 4.88 has only three teeth touching and 4.56 has five teeth touching? I think...to me its worth it to stay with the 4.56.

We'll see, hopefully I won't find out. I would be really curious to have those put on some type of test equipment to see the difference in force that it takes to break the two.

Bought some leaf springs off Dan, now to wait for the MWC parts train to get south enough for me to get them. I plan on try to beef them up somehow (though I despise add a leafs, if it gets me a few more years before I get a better lift kit, so be it).

Do an XJ/XJ bastard pack, you should get 2.5 to 3" lift I am going to do that and a MJ shackle in the wifes XJ.

Start PBing your leaf spring bolts now.

well maybe i should have started with higher asking prices for some of the stuff im selling...have a LOT of inquiries about parts. im sure half of the people won't follow through, if not more, but i have 2-3 people interested in each one of the big ticket items and some others interested in small parts. at this point i should have enough to cover what i took out of savings plus $100-200 for the gas and tow dolly rental, buy an upgraded steering box, get an artec truss for the 30 and get one diy bumper kit. thats not a bad deal at all in my book. plus if my prices were fair, then at least i helped a few guys get their rigs off the ground...cant wait to start pulling this sucker apart tomorrow
