Poly motor mounts, good or bad?

Have had a set sitting around forever. Gonna throw them in the wife's jeep when I put the motor in.

Another thing, pull just the motor or whole drivetrain? I've always pulled the head off to get to the upper tranny bolts and installed with no head. But I'm dropping a complete motor in.

i think they are great if you don't care about noise and vibrations. rubber insulates better, but poly wont come apart like the rubber ones

pulling the tranny/motor is easier for me...but i have fat arms.

so i took the cover off the front axle to look at the locker. having some binding issues.

found these in the bottom.

here is a short video of whats going on

can some one give me a crash course on whats going on here i don't know much about lockers.
I have a spare set you can use, I would need them replaced with new. If it helps.

if your replacing just the motor, id pull just the motor. ive done it in under an hour (didnt remove the front clip, just took off the rad support and pushed it foward). with that said, ive only ever pulled a motor out of a manual. i dont have to work around the torque converter and giant bell housing, pretty easy to get to all the bolts with simple hand tools.

Found my trailer today under all the California dust...

mac 'still needs washed bad' gyvr

Who are you???

I'd pull just the motor. your biggest obstacle will be the two top tranny bolts. use long extensions and replace the bolts with normal hex bolts.

That's what I was thinking.

Thanks guys!!

Rew, is that a lock right? I can drop some pins and springs in the mail tomorrow if so.

You mean stock rubber mounts. My M.O.R.E. rubber bomb proof mounts are just fine after 10 years.

I don't see much reason to run poly mounts. Run either M.O.R.E. or Brown Dog rubber mounts and never have to replace them again. FTM, M.O.R.E. mounts just use LCA rubber bushings.

I'm putting the Poly's in because they are here, and I need to get this thing running before I leave for WF or else she will KILL me if I leave her without a vehicle.

You will have to order new pins, take the locker out put in the new dowel pins and re-install it.

Thanks for the info, i put the axle in as a whole assy so i didnt know much of how the locker worked.

thanks guys, but i think im just gonna pull out this carrier swap it with my open stocker and wheel it at WF. then just order a kit and reinstall it all later. do either of you have a part number on your kits i looked last night but not to hard.

I just want it moving so i can do smokey burn outs!

She may kill you when you get home, for shaking her loose from her back teeth.

My advice is to pull the carrier from the housing, pull the locker out and put the spider/side gears into that carrier, and reinstall the same carrier. Do not just swap the carriers because unless you are extremely lucky you would have to re-set the backlash on the gears since each carrier is a little different and they probably have different shims.

Or if that's what you meant, then ignore me, you got this :)
