I am guessing the guy who was working on your PSD last winter was twords the suck end of the spectrum?

Him-"No wonder it wont start, there is antifreeze in the fuel filter reservoir!"
Me-"It is green dyed on road fuel...Let me talk to Tyler again please. Where the F^cK did you find that idiot? Close your hood and tell him to go away!"

yeah, we is a welder that thinks he knows oil burners.....he has not done anything for us since. The other kid we use is just flat out awesome. He is about 30 and is a natural. Did glow plugs on my PSD in 2 hours or less and only charged me 1/2 pice on labor, so basically 1 hour labor on the job b/c he used my heated shop to work in...

Cheese "green is for street, red is for...well..." Man

How much is the curriculum kit?? I seem to remember a friend who owned a small engine shop sponsoring a kit to the local high school from Briggs, and he said it was next to nothing for cost.

Ninja edit....

Doing some googling.... looks like its more than likely free if you do the leg work...

I had already found this, and I talked (pleaded) with my Dept head to look into finding me more grant monies to get the complete kit, and training in Milwaukee this next summer. I don't really need the training, but its included, so why not?

I really hope I can get this; otherwise, I just don't see this course being offered next year.

Oh, the joys of finding the right parts. Looks like my 99 Dodge might actually have a 2000 fuel tank. Which would explain why I haven't been able to get the right fuel tank level sender....
And Dodge has the wrong part numbers for the in-tank fuel module & associated parts for my VIN. 1999 is a crossover year, they started using a new module, pickup & sender midyear, and I've got the newer model. I should have the parts first thing in the morning, then I get to lift off the bed again.

I am not sure, I haven't got the quote yet, but its a years worth of curriculum, PPTS, DVDs, engine manuals, and 10-20 B&S OHV Engines (8-10HP flavor), plus the week training course... I'm assuming ~$2000

But I could be totally wrong.

start one up man...i'll donate. how much do you need for the materials? i cant promise a sizable donation, but if its for education...its the most worthy cause in my opinion. you could have a small engines program sponsored by NAXJA :)

Well things may change... The quote I recieved is right around the $10,000 mark... I need to talk with my Dept head and see where we go from here...

good luck man...$10k is not an unbeatable number (unless you are talking to school admins lol). let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

also if you haven't used kickstarter yet, it actually is pretty great. i had a few friends who were able to raise $10-30k for their own projects using it. i have no idea how it works, i just know how to donate :)

I am still working on finding engines for you. Might not be this year but maybe next. We scrapped 25 engines a month before you posted on facebook. The next time we will have another ~25 is the same time next year because we need to hold on to them for x amount of years for the EPA.

You should have got hired earlier and made the request earlier :dunno:

Tell me about it... 4 weeks before school starts and then ship me off for 3 weeks for training and orientation left 1 week to see what I had. In that week, I just worked on the ability to move around the shop/office cause it was a disaster.

My dept head is very impressed with my work ethic so far and my willingness/eagerness in wanting to 'turn the tide' of this program/department. I am working on teacher's cars in my Autos, applying for grants for equipment, networking with other buildings, all the while trying to teach. Not going to lie, I'm exhausted by the time I get home...

But today is Homecoming and shortened classes/school day...

That looks great if your 'producing' something. I however can only 'produce' a learning experience... My cause is more of a charity than anything and so I beleive it wouldn't be eligible...

dang it anyway...i know its a good problem to have, but i need some new damn pants! my fat pants are all too big now and my belts don't fit anymore. other than the small annoyance of trying to find clothes in the closet that fit, im pretty proud. i hit 50lbs lost this morning...8 inches off my waist and im down to around 20% body fat from 30%. it finally feels good to work out now...still hurts a bit, but the "runner's high" effect kicks in now and wakes my ass up. only 10.5 more months until i win $10,000 lol...

Good on ya. 30 lbs. and almost 4" this year for me, and gotta do the same thing.

The Neon is the DD starting Monday. My buddy has the tires at the shop he works at right now, the car is in his garage on jackstands. He'll bolt them on tonight. I'm getting ready to head up to Mission impossible for my local club's anniversary run, pics and video to come.

Also look into the NHRA as a sponsor. Large Racing Associations love to tell folks that they "Gave Back" to the community.

Last time I checked, every single JR Dragster is powered by a 5hp Briggs engine. They even make racing blocks for folks who want to make a 25-30hp out of that same platform. The JR Dragster program is big money for both the NHRA and Briggs.

These has to be tons of multi-media, paper, and power point presentations on the web and other reasonably prices sources. Small engines are not exactly rocket science. Heck, if those are too complicated, start with COX .049s :D Nothing like a 2 stroke psuedo diesel to stroke the imagination ;)

I forget where you teach, is it a Tech College?

COX motors are long gone.

http://coxengines.ca/

is basically the last plae to get anything 1/2A motor related, and it's all stuff built from spare parts that were sold off when Estes liquidated the COX brand in 09.

Still, there are cheap 2-stroke model airplane engines that you could use. The only downside is they're not exactly what I would call "rebuildable"

Austin, you need to get with me and we can maybe digitize your overheads and VHS tapes.
