Any one ever lay down sod? my yard is a complete disaster zone mostly dirt and holes i got some grass seed but the wife wants the back yard nice a lot quicker than grass grows.
do you have to do anything more then level out the ground and pin it down?
yup.....I would say so, if not then tell him to remove them if he wants it cheaper. I have gotten real old in my young age..I dont put up with shit like I used to. If someone tries to haggle me on an already low price, I will likely throw the item in the trash then sell it to them based on principle.

That is about it. I helped a buddy lay sod in college, it is not too hard and as long as you roll and tuck the end pieces, it will look nice and take off pretty quick..the key is keeping it fertilized and watered. Make sure you are laying it over a level place though, if not it will just amplify the bumps etc in the lawn.

don't think you even pin it down from what I saw when my aunt and uncle had it done. Pretty much till the topsoil up and level it (make sure it's evenly dense too, or it'll settle unevenly) then sprinkle with water, unroll the sod, and start watering it immediately. Make sure you tuck the ends/corners down properly.

same. I have had to use the phrase "I would rather set it on fire in my driveway than sell it to you for that" more than once.
Some idiot at a swapmeet (monthly event, I'd had this item worth $400+ there and priced at $80 for months waiting for the right buyer) tried to lowball me like that. Like I said, it was worth $400+ and I was just waiting for someone who needed it for what it was. This guy had been lurking around and looking at it and telling me was gonna buy it next month every month for the whole summer, and he finally gets up the gumption to offer me $75 for it. I told him the price was $80... he goes "but it's only five bucks!" I go "yes... it is worth 400 and you have been leading me on for months about it... it is only five bucks. $80 is the price."
He bought it. I really should have raised the price to $100 when he did that.

You shouldn't need to pin it down. When i did landscaping we just raked the soil watered it heavily, laid down the sod and rolled it out like carpet. keep the seams as tight as possible and water and fertilize it after you lay it down.
What I've been working on lately. Clarion Inn, Elmhurst. New front desk with custom modular cabinets, a few basic cabinets for the restaurant, and over 300' of 5.25" maple base molding with a couple curved walls.
Amazed at no requests for close ups of the blond behind the front desk, though
The job has been kinda aggravating because I've had to do a lot of waiting, for the framing carpenters, the electricians, the painters, etc. But they're all good guys and fun to work with, and now that it's all coming together, we're all pleased with how it's turning out.
Currently waiting on the carpet guys, then a bit more base molding and I'm done. The owner has another hotel in Elk Grove Village that I'll be doing some of the same in.
I am halfway through rebuilding my house and mostly was looking at the woodwork and wishing you lived closer to me. There is no way it will come out that nice when I build it.
