Rew:

if it will get you into a tow rig cheap, jump on it.

you can always upgrade later, and if you do get stuck in a campground there are plenty of use that will help you out.

that remonds me of this guy one year that burried a nice cargo trailer in a hotels lawn....:D

Rev has a good point, it's always good to at least have the option to pull stuff around, even if you don't do it all the time. My first tow rig was an older Tahoe, in retrospect I don't think it was really up to the task but it was still more comfortable and reassuring than driving the Jeep.

Hopefully by tomorrow I should be in a 4x4 version of my F350... wish I would have found this truck when I was looking before.

Cheeseman, I am planning to be out on the 21st/22nd!

Sounds awesome Brad. Josh has messeged me that he is looking in to flying into Des Moines for a trip down the same weekend so we might be able to have a good ol gathering!

If I had the money I'd buy the whale......and stuff a 12v in it! I gotta admit its not a bad truck and drives pretty well!

well there goes having fun  haha, come on out man, we will have a good time. Camille and I are planning a bonfire for Friday night so there will be a few people coming out to hang for a while

I should be done cutting beans this weekend so my farming chores will be minimal other then cattle chores...and Camille can take care of those if we are too busy having fun. :D

I picked this truck up at an auction this past weekend. It is a 1975 Ford F700 and has a $3000 bed and hoist on it and a newly rebuilt 361 w/ @ 5K on it. It has a rusty cab and no one would bid on it so I was the dummy who bit. I have a cab and front clip located for it that are 98% rust free for $500. I only gave $1600 for the truck and drove it 30 miles home plus it had a full fuel tank! All of our harvest equipment is red and white, so I am gonna lay some new red paint on the bed and cab and thinking about some old school classic style white flames....just to give the guys at the elevator something to talk about.....and that is how I roll....

I need to go back to the awesome junkyard near my house and take some pics of the old Ford F9000 series (I think it was a 9000. I know it was HUGE, like 18wheeler huge) they had.

They also had F700s, F600 series, F500s, F400s etc everywhere. And F2s, F3s, all the way to F6s or F7s. I don't think there was anything newer than an 80s truck and some went all the way back to the 40s and 50s. I felt like I was in a timewarp.

Basically the same thing as what I've got, but 4x4. 1997 F-350, crew cab long bed, DRW. As I think you pointed out before, Ford did not build them that way, but this one is an Arrowcraft conversion. I believe they started with a 4x4 SRW and converted it to DRW. High mileage but seems well maintained, should be picking it up tomorrow night.

The party is me driving out to Tyler's place to pick up his slide-in camper. Finally going to join the club. Then of course that turns into staying for a night or two, which turns into drinking, and pretty soon it's a full-on farm party.

my Monte SS is becoming a money pit.

New radiator, new MAF sensor, new plugs/wires, new water pump, new headlights, and I found out today after doing a compression test that the miss i've been feeling is a bad intake valve. back fed the cylinder with air and it was rushing out the intake.

got a guy that's gonna put a new/used head on next week for $250ish,

all this puts the cost of this car at 1 nice XJ and $840.

things to fix - fans aren't kicking on, the a/c needs charged, and a couple of tires by winter.

I thought I used up all my bad luck after the bounder. fuk!

I put a brand new yellow top optima in the baby jeep and it seems to have fixed the electrical issues...at least for now.

Drove it home across town from my parents today.
