What a great weekend!

Rehearsal with the dinner afterwards at my house on Friday night

Wedding on Saturday that I was the 'best' man at, great reception, then crashed another friends reception. Then off to the local bar down the street from my house all while still dressed in a tux and grace in a brides maid's dress.

I was back home seeing family this weekend so I went to visit my first employer, the local Ford dealership. They were doing some promotional deal and had a bunch of vehicles out for test driving... took a new crew cab Powerstroke around the block, and damn! Despite the badge on the side I thought I was driving a gas truck, they are just that quiet. Once I pegged it and got some boost behind it though that truck was a rocket :D

I was going to buy it but unfortunately I was about $50k short; maybe in ten years I can pick one up... a 2012 model that is.
 
my co-workers husband just bought a CCSB Ford oil burner and we took it to lunch the other day, I agree Brad, those things are so quiet I thought it had died at the stop light. The new interiors are such an upgrade from the old ones like my PSD....when I have a good crop year I am gonna look into a brand spankin new King Ranch...and then realize even then I can not afford one :D

They really stepped up the interior in 08 with the 6.4L. The 7.3 and 6.0 Super Duties are really nice with the Lariat package, with the lower trim levels it's pretty sparse - nothing to brag about, but nothing to complain about either. Now my 97 looks like they didn't change anything since the 80s, but I'm just happy the A/C works! :thumbup:
 
Test drove a 3/4 ton D-max, Corvette Grand Sport, and a Camaro Convertible this weekend... At Road America, the ALMS race was this past weekend. Ripping on them was slightly encouraged.

As far as trucks go I think that no matter the brand, P/U's have progressed in leaps and bounds in the last few years.
 
got a question, if a guy put 4in lift coils off of a tj onto a cherokee wouldnt it only give about 3in lift? i thought there as about an inch difference between tj and xj but couldnt remember

steve, depending on the brand that would be corect. Some brands sell the same coil for both applications. It is all based off the spring rate. I think Hobag found when he was looking for stock coils that the TJ and XJ were the same. :dunno:

Show me. Class b diesels are rare.

If you just clicked the link quick it shows 80k at the top, that's actuqlly the list price when new. They are asking 36k...still a bit high I think but...again not many out there.

You should buy it before 2013 and tow both our Jeeps to Moab! :D Is it Friday yet? Ready to come check out yo new crib!

I'm convinced there's no perfect option, you'll always have to sacrifice something. It is fun to dream though. I'm a fan of the toters:

But then you're left with just a place to sleep and that's about it. Or you end up pulling some 40'+ monster of a trailer with living quarters and space for two vehicles behind it.

The truck I've got might make it... If I can find a bigger trailer I may have to auction off the second spot...

not necessarily, take something like mine. It's 23' of floor. You can knock off the last 4 feet of the box to give you room for a goose hitch and still have 19' of floor space to work with. 19x8 is pretty big.

The big disadvantage is that you lose the cab space compared to a regular motorhome. But for what you get in towing/braking capacity it's a worthwhile tradeoff. Look at what Mac's using now. Even a toter with a big semi sleeper is probably bigger than his bed popup, and you get out from the payment of a new truck, and you've stepped up to real commercial tires and brakes.
 
I love the setup I got going right now, don't get me wrong. I finally don't have some crazy ass truck payment (at least in my mind), and I have a nice climate controlled place to sleep and could throw my tent away. That said, I have always thought that a class B or C motorhome with a compact diesel 7.3/6.0/6.4/5.9 or the like would make an awesome tow rig. Plus being that they are usually less than 30 ft you'd get under the 65 ft length to haul two...yes you would have to beef the hitch frame up on most.

As much as I like the Uhaul or Brians bus, I also like going 70 to 75 in heated leather or cold a/c...
