Ah, the joys of cybernetic archeology. I'm replacing a disk drive in a server that was purchased in 1997.
That is, purchased in 1997 as used hardware. It'd already had a productive service life.
My cell phone has as much storage as this disk drive.
Actually, it's been pretty well hammered since installation. It's processed a lot of terabytes of information over the years.I am guessing it did not get much use? No hard drive I have used ever lasted that long?

Mac, what date is that?

<chuckle> Not in this environment. SCSI LVD hot swap. No ATA, IDE, or SATA in my world, it's all SCSI (legacy servers only,) SAS or Fibre Channel for connectivity. The new storage systems (200+ terabytes of available storage,) has both traditional rotating mag media as well as some SSD for the high transaction environments.Thats pretty impressive, guessing it was an ATA HD?
