Important

Alright flex, you got me.
I was eyeing up a 3/4" spacer lift for it, Addco sways, and Solid Diff Covers (They're on sale for like $65 shipped again!). But that's it! Like I said this is a DD now, XJ's are for modding. I didn't even really intend to get another Jeep, this one just jumped out at me.

WJs have always looked too pretty to wheel to me. Maybe in 5 years they'll look old and busted and I won't feel so bad seeing them get beat up.

Personally for less than an 1" of lift and slightly bigger tires I wouldn't want to take the mileage hit. Leave it at stock height but get those sway bars... then it will be a lot more fun to drive.

That 4.7HO was a hot little motor. Those ran better than the 5.9L ZJ's by a ton.

Got me a hood today. Bought a hood off a guy that was parting his rig. The PO put a nice looking scoop/cowl on it and built a decent box to seal the intake to the underside of the scoop. I'll get some pics of it when I unload it tomorrow.

It has a little dent on the pass side that looks like I could straighten it out but not sure how to go about it. Also needs a little bondo work to fill the gap in the hood on the front side of the scoop. Do all that, paint and install the hood pins and I'm good to go.

Since everyone else is buying new vehicles I had to go and buy one too.

Actually I'm separated from my cherokee for a month so I needed a short term daily driver, but I'll probably keep it as a second vehicle.

1979 CJ-5, 3 speed manual, AMC 304 V8, dual exhaust. Not sure if it's 59k or 159k miles.

It has a little rust that needs patching but the engine runs really well. SOA conversion with 32x11.50 tires (I know, they're little tires, I'll fix it soon). Has a full cage (although no frame tie-ins or triangulation) and a posi in the rear axle. Dana transfer case, probably a dana 20 but I need to look it up. Narrow track axles and 83" wheelbase means this thing is scary hard to keep in the lane at speed. Included a full top and doors but they get 3 inches of rain a year here so it won't be needed much.

Looks pretty good matt! Gotta love a CJ.

^ x2!!

Should be a 20, but MAY be a 300 on that CJ. The AMC 360 will bolt right in, same mounts, etc. Check the front end, a fresh CJ will drive like a car.

The steering box is REALLY loose (about a quarter turn of slop in the wheel). I tried adjusting it but couldn't get it even close, I may need a new or better box.

Driving tonight found out the headlights flicker, may be a bad switch or loose wire, but it's annoying and will get fixed real quick.

no, I did not bring it bowling...it's not like I got it shoes or anything....

It's gonna be a good summer. Lynyrd Skynrd in July, and Carlos Santana & Steve Winwood in June. Second row seats for Santana & Winwood. :greensmok

Say what ya want.... I've been listening to Santana for better than 30 years, and if anything, he just gets better. I've wanted to see him play live for decades. The rest is just icing on the cake.

I'm a fan, a product of my rocker parents in the early 80's. When WMMS was WMMS, the morning zoo was the most controversial morning show on radio and classic rock wasn't classic, it was just rock.

Just poking a little fun :viking:
