I don't really care for the blue lenses but, they were the only ones that I could find that would fit the opening in the bumper. They are the same ones that JCR offers. I was hoping I could find non-bluey ones. They're MUCH brighter than my previous setup. I can do shadow puppets on the neighbors garage door across the road.

Is there an easy way to wire back up lights like that?
I was thinking of just piggy backing off of the stock reverse light circuit, then maybe a relay wired up to aux reverse lights?

I've got mine setup to come on when in "R" and also on a toggle switch on the dash. I use the stock R circuit to trigger the relay, as well as the toggle switch on the dash. I've got a diode in the right spot to keep it from backfeeding. Pretty simple.
That sounds pretty solid I guess, where did you run the wires through the back half of the Jeep? Just inside the plastic trim pieces and then through the floor or something?

Just got home, another 12 hour day.I like working on any cummins engine.
Replaced the air compressor (it was a bear). Theres one bolt on the back side you can't even see the damn thing. You have to use a special wrench to even begin to remove it. It was a N14 Aaron, don't know what year.
Going to the Bengals game tomorrow with my son and daughter.. Can't wait to see the Lion massacre..

If you don't you need to. You have a fire hazard there. The stock wiring was not intended to run 55W bulbs. I wire up lamps everyday at my job.(QA Lab Tech for an OEM lighting manufacturer) I've seen what can happen. Not to belittle, but if you don't have relay in there, it's very unsafe.

Having set fire to the rear off mine a while back....I can tell you that the wire WILL overheat, before the fuse blows.

Bought a ZJ today. 94 Laredo with a 318. 180k miles or so. Has factory front skid and T-case skid, though it doesn't appear to be an UpCountry. It's been tough to find one with winter coming, let alone in decent shape. This one has a few issues but nothing I'm too worried about. My last ZJ was a 98 with a 4.0 and it was sloooow. This thing straight up gets up and goes, now I'm just hoping I have enough time and money to get it ready to race next year.

I was unaware :doh: thanks for the heads up! Even though I don't spend a lot of time in reverse I don't want to take any chances when it comes to fire. :thumbup:

Thats what I was going to do but the insurance money leftover after buying a Jeep is going to JCR goodies for the new rig. I have a set of lights so I may have JCR cut a couple holes in the rear bumper or Have my dad do it with his Plasma Cutter!

What if I were to run LED reverse lights? Dont those use lots less wattage?
Having to install a relay isnt that big of a deal, the thing is my jeep already looks like a spaghetti bowl. So fewer wires = better.
EDIT: After researching LEDs some more, I found that they use about 3% of the wattage required for the same output as halogens. So that means if i want the same light output as a 55w, then my LED setup would be using about 1.6w.
Do you guys think this would ok on the stock wiring? aka piggyback with no relay?
