I get horrible milage no matter what vehicle I drive..seeing how everything we own minus the Tahoe and the XJ is a work vehicle. I get 8-9 MPG out of the 6.0 gasser pulling the XJ trailer loaded w/ parts etc and the back of the truck with other parts :D But hey, my theory is if ya cant afford to feed it you should not have it.....and I wish more welfare crack whores understood this as well...:D
 
I'll be looking for a 94-99 K2500 6.5 TD once I get some more $$ saved up. I know, I know a 6.5 is the bastard child of the diesel world, but hey, I'm different like that :D
 
i could have done the math wrong :dunce: but I do remember driving for Columbus to Wellsville and only using 1/4 of a tank. It has 3.55 gears and an exhaust but 15 still does sound off

I'm the opposite way. I wouldn't own a Ford if I worked for the company. A Dodge in my price range is either pushing 300k or is completely clapped out.

I have always loved the 88-98 K series trucks. Yeah, the interior is generic plastic GM, but oh well. They're easy to find parts for anywhere, and they're cheap.
 
This pipe dream I have includes me having a tow rig.........
 
Tow rigs are becoming more and more of a necessity....as you build a Jeep you get to the point where you don't want to drive it over 50 MPH, or for hours, unless you are young.

I agree.

That ~700 miles to/from Kalamazoo was a LOOONG 700 miles in the heep.

The tow rig will fall into place eventually for me, I'm not pushing it at the moment. I'm always looking. If I come across a good deal, I may jump on it. I'm going to let it find me as opposed to me finding it.:D

Meh, I don't need a tow rig, but it sure was nice last weekend to just roll up on the trailer, jump in the truck and not worry about the Jeep making weird sounds all the way home.

It would make longer trips more possible with the wifey also.
 
Back when my 92 was only on 33s, I had no concerns about driving it out to Moab, wheeling some of the tougher trails including Golden Spike, and driving home.

And when it was on 31s, towed a travel trailer to the west coast and wheeled part of the Rubicon, and Poison Spider and Elephant Hill in Moab, on the way home. On a D35...

But the van sure is a comfy and roomy tow rig, and gets better fuel economy towing the jeep than the jeep gets on it's own.
 
Oh, I'm pretty much in the "really need a truck" category. It's not, "because it's nice to pull it up on the trailer and go home" thing.
We have a financial plan, and I'm doing my best to stick to it. It won't only be a tow rig. It'll be a new DD, a truck when I need a truck and a family hauler when duty calls. We could swing it if I bought one today but, that's not the plan.:D

Gotta stick to the plan........:compwork:
 
Mine will be pretty much all of those also. I wouldn't buy something just for a tow rig, I have access to one of those. Nothing wrong with something like that, but it's not for me. I've been swapping vehicles around since I got my license, and I'm finally ready to settle into a multipurpose vehicle I will keep for a long time. I was looking for a Suburban, but a pickup would really be more useful.

Yep, you'll need a 6 door pickup. I think a 4 door will work for me.:D

Can't talk myself into a diesel yet. No more than I'd be towing with it, I can't see how it'd be the best choice right now.

Haha yeah. We're gonna make an extended cab work unless I can find a 94-99 GM diesel crew cab SRW. Hard to find for sure. I figure if this is the last vehicle I'm going to buy for a long time, I may as well get what I want. Diesel may be more expensive right now, but when all the gas runs out, I can still drive around on veggie oil :attom:
 
talked to aaron a little bit ago, i guess a lady pulled out infront of him tonight and he told me he totaled his XJ. we will see, im still waiting for a reply with more news
