Thoughts and prayers man.....
 
We got back from Chicago Children's Memorial this afternoon. We lost our 18 month old nephew to Bi-lateral pneumonia today.... He had major problems since his birth, and almost continuous respiratory problems. So its been quite the rough day...

Yes Sean, this is that sister of Jennifer's.

Then we find out this afternoon Jennifer finally got a store of her own. She has been hanging on for a little over 2 years waiting for this. Its one of the smallest in the chain, and its in Podunk Junction... but at least now when she works a double on Sunday after closing the store on a Saturday night, she is boosting her own profit sharing. Pretty tough to be very celebratory right now.....

Update...

She got through the MRI and surgery just fine and is recovering. She had a pocket of infection in the cartilage, and once the doctor opened it up, it drained almost immediately. It should heal in a couple days with antibiotics. We will probably still be at the hospital through Saturday, but we're on the good side now. I have to go back to Vincennes tomorrow night for a weekend training exercise, but Kim and the kids will be in Indy until Sunday night.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers, the family really appreciates it.

There's some tood news, Illiana.

This may sound cold, Howey...... but it's really not meant to be. Your nephew may be better off, and I hope he's comfortable now.
 
And it's been a loooong week on this front. One of my g/f's uncles was buried on Monday. The more I think about that, I think Frankie is probably much happier now than he has been in years (no need for any more details.)

And we made an offer on a house. Seller got the offer Wednesday morning, countered, we counter-countered, and she accepted late afternoon. Financing is almost complete, home inspection tomorrow, and my insurance agent has started on the home-owner's policy.

And I'm up at this ungodly hour because I can't sleep. Minor ache from having 2 wisdom teeth extracted this afternoon.
 
Still staying in the Cannon Falls area or moving more towards the Twin cities? Lemme know if you need help moving. I may be able to swing by.
 
Within CF's village limits. I appreciate the offer...... but I value my friends a bit too much to ask them to help me move. Part of our budgeting is for professional movers.

Bill, Sorry to here that about you nephew, glad to here about Jen's store, where is "Podunk Junction"?
Jeff, Lar hired movers when we moved here, I pitched a fit, 'cause it cost $1200.00, but it was worth it, I will never tell her that though.

I got an E-mail from Travis, he is in Afghanistan. right now he is staying in a tent with "30 cots too many " that don't sound fun. He rode in the cargo hold of a huge AF cargo jet from Kyrgyzstan to Afghanistan.

I will be going back to work in the next few weeks!
Hopefully the week after WF!
 
I've had professional movers for my last 2 moves. I've gotten spoiled. As far as I'm concerned, it's worth the money, especially for the big items.

that's the only way to go. One time I lived in SLC, Utah, got hired and needed to move to Florida. The Company was going to have Professional movers move us. But, they couldn't do it til the first week in January. If that heppened, I'd miss a prior year bonus. So, we loaded up a friggin U-Haul straight job and two cars and drove to FLorida and got my Bonus. My friggin back was toast for a month. we drove 2800 miles in five days. One truck, trailer with a car, car, three kids, golden retriever, two cats,wife...holy crap.

We have used professional movers on our last move. They were professional drunks, oh wait, that was me and my friends. Now I think about it....I have not seen those guys for a while :D
 
<chuckle> Best part about this, BOB, is that I have a buddy in southern MI who owes me a HUGE amount of house karma. I've helped him move something like 3 times, worked on 80,000 sq. ft. of lawn, helped up put up a 24x36 shed......I've got a little I can lean on.

My cats did not travel well on the relatively short trip up from Chicago. The one in particular hates vehicles, and as I've found out later, really hates being stoned. Xanax (vet prescription) really confuses her. It took her something like 6 hours to stop crying (think about a 3 year old uncontrollably sobbing into her pillow,) and the only reason she stopped was because she was hoarse and physically exhausted. 2,800 miles? Ouch.

Yep, I forgot to mention my buddy Dave. The unemployed stoner. He took AMtrak out to SLC to help me load and unload. Amazing what a cooler of beer will do to get cheap labor. tWith all the mountains, it took me two fulls day just to get to El Paso. From there it was easy cruisin.

Just got word from my wife that our son has to get tubes in his ears. Not looking forward to this at all, but if it makes him feel better it is worth every penny. I believe that it is a fairly simple procedure, but not having gone through anything like that before with a 2 year old I am sure it will be a bit nerve racking.
 
Tyler, the whole procedure takes around 15min. There's nothing to it. Our friends little girl just had tubes put in. They were amazed how quick and painless it was.
