Important

Sober now,
It was the biggest one day lay off in this companies history.
90% of the work force, even the maintenance dept. which is busiest in the off season was canned.
I am hoping to be called back in January.
They are telling everyone April 1st, that is a canned answer.

How are you doing Howie, I guess IDOT only has ONE job in this area in '09.

We got "snow" last night. Just enough to dust the vehicles and the roads.

I imagine Attica got quite a bit, should make for a fun TFT run.

You haven't dodged them completely. They say after they get done with retirement deals they will can more if they don't have enough volunteers. I wish you luck. Cummins has put a hold on a couple of purchase orders we have been dicussing with them. Makes me a little nervous also.

Yeah no crap, I dodged a bullet for now i should have said. They want 40 people voluntarily. They are supposed to start at the top of the seniority list for that. If they can't get 40 they will do permanent layoffs. I think there are 40 people that will take the voluntary layoff because they will be guaranteed to come back to work on March 30th but they won't be guaranteed the same job. thats why i'm not going voluntarily! This is all at my plant i don't know about the others!

The kids need toys. If you don't show then you should feel like a giant turd loaf.... .

A giant turd loaf with no money here! :D

I-90 widening is still going on next year...

It's SLOW...SLOW,SLOW,SLOW, SLOW even for this time of the year.

We gutted our Dayton,OH warehouse and scaled back hardware stock in Kansas City. So we got some work from both of those.

But around here its the Navy Pier job, BP-Whiting, U of W residence halls are going to be the decent side jobs next year.... and they are all small. We sure could use another Trump Tower.

I'm on the top of the senority list for my department, so unless they shut the doors I've got a job.

One good thing that happened.. We brought another production line stateside.

Oh wow seeing the boss once every 2 months that sounds rather nice! I meant to ask you at carnagefest but i forgot too.

Like you Rev I too see my Boss rarely. Once for my review and once for my bonus in the past three years. If you happen up 141 to the UP, Rev Pm me. I'll buy yah a beer.

I've been working on my cherokee to use it to get around this winter and for WF, and come to find out the NSS starting going out at the same time as the coil spring broke.

Note to the wise, have things break when it's not cold out so you don't have to lay on your back in the snow trying to figure out what's wrong.

Remote from Bangalore, India.

I fell asleep by the largest pool in the world yesterday after too many Kingfishers (beer) and got a sunburn. Slept 12 hours.

Life sucks.

You sure don't want to be working outside around here right now. 4 degrees F, low tonight is supposed to be 0 down to -5.

I do have that steering column here...... just gotta find the doggoned keys for it.

dumb ass.

You should drink a big glass of tap water so you can get the full experience of India :passgas::D.

I wouldn't worry too much about finding the keys. It's going into a 72 cj with the ignition switch on the dash. One of these days I'll hafta make a trip up there and get it.

How far is Northern Brewer from ya?

Well........ it'd probably be a good idea to pull out the lockplate from the steering column. I can do that, I've got the compressor and puller here.

<grin> About 35 miles from NB at the moment. Less than 3 miles off my normal commute during the week, though. Let me know what you want, and I can have it waiting here.

BTW, the way things are looking, I expect to be rolling through Sparta on 12/31 between 1700 and 1730.

I don't think I'm going to be here for New Year's Eve. I'll probably either be in da UP or in Green Bay getting drunk with family then.

NB's alt kit was excellent. In the near future I think I'm going to do a batch of the super alt. Possibly even for WF.

The super alt was definitely in my top 3-4 favorites.

I need to get brewing again, I only have 4 kegs in use and two are nearly empty.

Went to a U.W. Men's Hockey game last night.
Lar and I took Travis, his wife to be, Lar's daughter and her husband to be.
$78.00 for six tickets, included a hot dog and soda each.
Cheap night out!
I forgot how fun a college hockey game was.
I used to watch N.I.U. play Saturday nights in Rockford back in the '80s.

There aren't any good college sports to go see close to us, but I love taking the boys to the single A baseball team in Kinston.

Military tickets are $2 :yelclap:
