Where?
Cleaning camel stables?
Guess I didn't realize there were that many camels in LA.

so.....if any of you remember, I won that $300 gift certificate last week on Pirate4x4. Got my first package today (still waiting on my winch rope and fairlead); RuffStuff 8.25 cover

IMG_9915.JPG

however.....I specifically ordered it without the counter-sunk option and without the drain plug......

as you can tell, this one is counter-sunk, and it obviously had the drain plug, which was welded up before it was sent out....

i guess i shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.....so I'll live with it.....but had I paid for it, I'd be calling them right now...

Paint it yellow!

If you have any sack at all you'll paint it yellow!!!!

Hooked up the Expedition to a trailer this afternoon for the trip to ILLXJ's tomorrow. Yeah, it'll work but it reeeeaaallly needs airbags in the rear. It settles down QUITE a bit.

The P3 brake controller is pimp btw. Definitely worth the money.

Where were you hiding the trailer? I didn't see it in the yard. JIM

Borrowed.

I was trying to get Kim to let me buy a trailer as a present for the Expy, but no dice :D I need to liquidate the camper and the 91 XJ (someone buy it please!!!!) before I can even think about adding anything else.

Is it not driveable Byron?

Do the frame stiffys need holes drilled in them for the welds? IOW, do we need a big drill bit?

Kinda. The draglink needs to be shortened and the trackbar adjusted. I ran out of time this week to work on it. That and in case something happens this weekend and we don't get it finished, I can still get home :D

They can be welded along the edges with no problem, but I think it makes em stronger and obviously attached better with holes drilled for plug welds. Biggest drill bit I have a 1/2".

You said stiffy :D :D

3/4" and 1/2" bits are in the Jeep.
I'll put the Drill Dr. in the Jeep in the morning.:D

Looking through the owners manual on the Ferd... They rate the step bumper as a Class III (5000 lbs trailer weight/750 lb. tongue weight) tow point.

Holy crap...

Looks like I don't need to spring for a trailer hitch.

I never bought one for my Explorer. 400 tongue/4000 trailer with the bumper, why bother when the camper weighs 1200 lbs. Shoot, Ford's trailer tow package on the Exploder only consisted of a trans cooler and a 4-flat plug :D

Hale - what time are you planning on getting there? I'll probably leave here around 7, putting me at Jim's at 8-8:30.

Yes, 1/2 or 3/4 should work fine.

I was thinking of trying to find a slide-in camper so as to have a nice hi-dry place to sleep at WF. But I don't think the GCVW is going to be high enough. Truck + 1300-1600 lb camper, plus 4k+ Jeep(and whatever tow apparatus I have) is going to be a handful too much for an F-150 with the tow package. (which is the big radiator, rear anti-lock brake and a rear swaybar)

8:30 - 9:00.......9:30 - 10:00...:D
I'm just gonna get up when the kids wake me up. If you want to give me a ring when you hit Clay City, that'd be fine. If I'm up and dressed (or not) I may just give you an escort up there. I'll likely be up and around by 8:30.

Shoulda bought a 3/4ton...
That would be a Hale of a load on a 1/2 ton.....

Besides, you don't need a stinkin' tow rig........DRIVE IT! There's no challange if you tow it. The best part is seeing if you can get it home after wheeling! THAT...is where it's at baby.
