Important

Had our first flakes tonight in kc. Nothing to even say it snowed but it was there.

I have a guy that runs a chainsaw all night at the haunted house. He has done this for years and loves his work. His son also works for me and was telling me about an add on craigslist in the missed connections section for "chainsaw guy at the beast". I didn't belive him, he tries his best just to screw with me a lot. Well sure a hell I go and search craigslist and there it is...

Now my curiosity is up cause this girl has got to have some issues, but the thing that has me curious is she

A) smokin' with a little side of crazy
B) nuttier than a squirel terd and plain

Or

C) ugly tree fruit, with seeds of daddy issues making it unedible.

I MIGHT have another XJ this weekend. Its an older body style 4wd 4.0 AW4 Black seems to be in good shape judging by the picture. I should be test driving it today or tomorrow if this damn rain would stop! Its probably gonna get the fenders hacked and a small lift to clear 32's! :D

Having the pop-up on top of the gooseneck seems kinda redneck.. but I like that you still get full use of the deck. A lot of the other ones in that thread are wasting most of the deck. Plus I'm not sure about having the lightweight camper up front and then all the vehicle weight behind the trailer axles.

Mac, you could just put a camper in your truck bed since your trailer is bumper pull anyway. :D

most of those are called, "hillbilly haulers" for their redneck stylin...and you'd be suprised how much a 'light weight' truck camper weighs sometimes...

i'm already looking at truck campers...and an enclosed trailer has my eye too...

My 10' pop-up weighs around 2,200 lbs. fully loaded. Mount it on top of a gooseneck and subtract the axle, springs, tires and tongue. Figure around a ton on top of the gooseneck, and pretty much right over the pin. That's going to counterbalance a lot of weight behind the gooseneck axles. I'd suspect you'd had to load quite a bit more aft than usual just to get a decent pin weight (without overloading the towrig rear end.)

The other redneck hilton mounts a slide-in camper on the deck, with the over-cab part hanging over the arch.

nice, thanks for the link mac. I have to wait to get home to see the other pics b/c photobucket hosted pics are blocked at work :( I am excited to see what I can come up with, but I am just hoping that I did not waste my money on something that is goingto be too lite and cost me more in the long run to get where I want it. I know that it will def need more metal added to it for structural support, but the weight of an XJ and a pop-up camper should not bee any too much...now if I can only quit hauling so much shit to each gathering to sell :D

finally got to check them out, and I dig the truck campers that are mounted up to the GN. They look especially good when they are trimmed with new metal so you dont see the gaping openings on the sides. One guy has storage boxes mounted under his, I like that idear. The pop-up on top of the GN was a bit much for my liking, but at least it saved deck space.

I got yo PM and I will be on the look out.

Went to the Picknpull in Green Bay today, about 6 rows of vehicles from C4C have shown up. Quite a few Grands. Going to be grabbing WJ seats ZJ disks and the one set of WJ knuckles in the place. Anyone know if there is an advantage to ZJ D44 disks over the ZJ D35 disks? Because I have the option. :D

It was something else to look at the 350 TBI in a Suburban and see the paint peeled and cracked off the valve covers and obvious heat damage to other parts of the engine that were inflicted when given its dose of liquid glass. Other vehicles too.

The Hillbuilt is born. (Trademark and Patent Pending):D

The first weld.. With a set of jumper cables. One hand holding the welding clamp . The other working the throttle to get some amps.

Out of pocket cost so far 35.00 bucks.

nice work Nick, but am I overlooking something in the first pic?

Thanks.. No just a pic of the alternator I added for the welder.

I'm going to start a thread (over in fab) on the project when I get some time.

Ahhh, I see, I see! Here is apic of the tail light boxes I have been working off and on for about 2-3 weeks on. Finally just buckled down yesterday and completed them. Minus lights, I have about $10 in them and plenty of hours in the shop :D My welds are ugly as hell, but they do penetrate pretty good and after some flapper disks, everything is good :D More pics to follow in my next thread "Project WTFWIT"

Tried to set up the camper today to let it air out and check the heater for our Brown County trip the 30-1st. Got about 2 turns on the winch and one of the lift cables snapped.

Damn.

At least it happened here and not at the campground.

Tyler where did you get your lights from. And do you have a build pics. I am going to to a set after I get the hood from you and get it done. Hopefully I get to start soon.

Ouch. That's not good.

I had a critter build a nest inside the housing with the jackscrew and whipple tree on my pop-up. Went up just fine, but ruined the clutch on the way back down. I had to turn it down a quarter turn at a time with tiny little pipe wrench. Cost me about $20 in parts to fix (and a big honkin' 5/8"-11 tap from the local hardware.)

Got home this morning around 10:30 AM after a night of maintenance at work, just to find out that the igniter in the furnace has crapped out. Gonna try and limp through until the furnace guy shows up on Tuesday.
