Important

55 bucks a month gets me 60 Mb/s down/ 4 up. Intro rate is 45. Ymmv, you'll just have to look around. Hulu plus annoys me, even after paying for it you still get ads and limited availability of shows. For the shows I have to watch when they air, I buy the season on Amazon and can stream it 24 hours after it airs. Not all shows will be available but the ones I watch have been. Usually they're about 2 bucks per episode.

I also just try to stay one season behind shows that are still airing so I don't have to buy the current season, but that's harder to do if you're already into a show.

Oh yeah, that's what Macgyvr does on vacation

lol...

we use hulu plus and will probably cancel our netflix soon. i use netflix more than my wife and i really never watch tv. now that we own a house and i have 3 jeeps to wrench on, its the interwebs or work around the house. i do watch the bears when i can though

$39 a month get's me 15 down and 5 up.

It's plenty for just two people with one TV.
It would probably handle three streaming tv's and some internet surfing a the same time. Figure about 5 mbps for each streaming TV in HD.
I don't pay for anything.
veetle is fawesome
all the documentaries I want to watch are on youtube, since the history channel and discovery don't actually show them anymore.
and when I want to watch sports I straight steal them because the NFL hasn't figured out that I would pay them directly for the content, and ESPN is the full on stupid and has tied their streaming service with only supported internet services. Those same internet services also happen to be big market cable/satellite companies that have big broadcast contracts.

but really, you'll be surprised at what turns up on an antenna these days. It's not like you remember with 3 channels that sucked.

since we have amazon prime we cancelled netflix and will turn it back on to watch new netflix shows when released. Netflix was too slow to get new movies for us and there is no point in having netflix and amazon. We have cable and we like to watch tv.

Work is sending me to robot school. Going to be in Vincennes IN Oct 19-24.

Anyone over there? Anything to do?

Not much to do. I'm 15 min north as well. A couple good food places is about it. And the jeep junkyard if you want to go diggin through it.

We are going to shut our dish off in November. We now pay like $90 a month for the three shows we watch.

We have DISH and Netflix...wife is addicted to TV every evening when she gets to bed...she binge watches the same stupid shit over and over again (Greys Anatomy, Dirty Jobs etc)...she claims it puts her to sleep. I told her I thought having sex w/ me put her to sleep.

I'm going to be getting dish or directv when we move soon, I think. I have been on and off with Cable for the past 3 years (no contracts). I have shut it off in the spring and start it back up in the fall.

How do you guys without cable/dish watch new shows? Like Walking Dead or American Horror Story?

you can buy the season on amazon, or just don't.

I'm in the just don't category.

of course once you build a full on HTPC I can play anything, so torrent, but honestly I swore off stealing content a long while ago. So unless a content creator is just full on stupid and makes it so I literally can't get it then I will steal it.

THe brazilian steakhouse was an amazing experience. I'm just glad I didn't have to pay. It was like $70 a person. Plus I got four of these traditional brazilian mix drink things at $13 a piece. Amazing what people that sold you 1/4 million dollar machines will do for ya!

Yup, we have one in Charlotte. Called Chima. Went there a few years ago with the Italian company I used to work for as our Christmas dinner. Didn't pay a dime and was glad. Since I was with the Italians, there were 5 bottles of wine on the table for the 7 of us that were there.

they are all over in NYC...that and argentinian steakhouses. they are run by real brazilians and argentinians so they were always cheap. we went to one for our anniversary once and it was $15...and i left feeling like i ate an entire cow. very good. i guess that is one of the few advantages of living in a craphole like NYC...

I went to São Paulo, Brazil at the end of college with the baja race team, the food was cheap and amazing, lived like kings down there because of the exchange rate ;) even on a college budget.

Oh ya the Milwaukee DMV sucks. Trying to get the 20' 10k trailer registered

just scored a half tread set of BFG AT's on jeep rims for $100. The "airtime jump jeep" just got new shoes...and it is not even home yet.
