Important

Turns out I will be installing gears too. Charging the guy $200 an axle, then building myself a cage with that money.

Same. I'm getting experience and building up my collection of setup bearings by doing them for free for friends, once I've done enough to be fast at it I'll probably start doing it for money.

I am debating pickng up an extra dana 30 to try regearing. I have never done an axle before but I have set the backlash on a ring and pinion that is bigger then me so I figure smaller is easier, right?

I have never watched an axle gear install, very much looking forward to watching the start/finish process and I will be asking a lot of questions I'm sure. I'm a learn by do it kind of person , not that I'm going to start doing installs after this weekend

This guy works for Dana, he should know what he's doing

The benefits of living in the detroit area... we don't have any people like that out here :(

Watch Carl Jantz's gear setup masters class videos before you start, it helps a LOT with understanding what's going on in there.

Some of that is jana 76 conversion specific, but a lot of it is equally applicable to setting up any dana style shimmed axle.

Some info on checking patterns here:

What was wrong anyways? I had no DNS response for the domain so I figured either our nameserver was down or the provider's nameserver was down.

Um I can't explain it.

I reset some stuff. I then called the hosting company and was working on it for the last three hours...

The NAXJA computer nerds were out of internet and it was left up to me...scary thought...

Btw, the folks at softlayer are AWESOME to work with and had a lot of patients with me.

NS1 and NS2 would ping back but port 53 was explicitly closed. My best guess is BIND had some problem where it couldn't start. It was a nice break from day job computer BS to satisfy my curiosity.

Thanks mac for getting it fixed, sounds like we have an awesome hosting company too.
