Important

Well.... Just helped Max-Bilt Phil load the Heep up on the trailer, taking her back to Eau Claire. Hopefully he'll get it running again. I already feel like I've forgotten something somewhere...

On a brighter note, I found out that the truck has 3.55 gears instead of the 3.31s that it should have. The year and style normally had 3.73s for towing package, and 3.31s for standard use, with a small portion using 3.55s. I'm happy I'm not totally fubar'ed for towing...

damn...its so dead on here you would have thought we all had new babies :)

:smoker:

It was nice knowing some of you... Good luck in your future endevors with 'little people'...

:twak:

Who am I kidding, I'll be in that boat in a couple years...

What is it?
The 96 powerjoke with 3.55s SUCKED pulling but was really fun empty.
The 97 ECLB with 4.10s pulled better, but mileage was bad.

My older boy turned 6 today. man time fly's.

This is actually an 01 F150 gasser. The couple F250s and F350s I looked at had waay too many things wrong with them for the price.

Some more reading discovered, that the 5.4L was an option in this year, as well as a tow package that included the 3.55 gears, a 2in frame mounted receiver and a combination 4/7 plug mounted on the rear bumper. The 3.73 gears were an alternative 7700 package that also upgraded the front axle for more towing capability.

With the Jeep in limbo, I'm finding myself researching the truck just as much as the Jeep...

You will be fine with the F150 you bought towing your jeep. I had a 2000 that I towed with in 2003 to 2005, including a Moab trip. The only time it was bogged down was the three climbs in Colorado over the mountains on I70. It was in 2nd gear mostly holding 40 mph. You won't be the only guy in that boat either. I had 3.55s and the 5.4. It got 9mpg towing at 75 mph.

so...im at first i thought i had a power steering leak...then i thought i had a coolant leak...then it was looking like i had a rms leak...the last couple of days, no leaks. the biggest difference from the 3 days when i saw leaking...no frost.

i think its entirely possible that frost (theres been a pretty good layer on it a few times this year) is melting and then running off and pooling on the ground. all the puddles actually dried up completely meaning they were mostly or entirely water. the one that pooled off the oil pan had some residue and left a mark in the drive way (but then again im sure the water collected plenty of oil on my nasty pan) the one day, it was tinted green (which i thought could be coolant...but im sure there is still residue coolant from when i accidentally poked a hole in the overflow return)...so far, none of my fluid levels have changed. and the last 2 days it hasn't frosted and i've gone on longer drives giving the frost time to melt and evaporate. so maybe i don't need a steering box...which is good because im ready to start putting the truck back together and i would rather not spend 2 days tracking down and fixing leaks!

I honestly have no idea what that sort of a whale normally sells for, but I'm thinking that $8k is on the low side. Or it really is just a box on wheels.

That ladder recess is gonna do a number on the inside, I think. Interesting toy hauler, though.

why?

it's a choice, if it's not something you want to do then don't do it.

Just ignore all the people that are taken aback when you tell them you don't have children. Like it's some sort of requirement when you're an adult to procreate. It isn't.

yesterday a nurse overheard Jennie and I talking, and she said "wow, it sounds like you guys have a lot of fun"

indeed we do, and mostly because we don't have children and do what we want, when we want to do it.
Want to take 4 days to go to tennesse to build a bumper? no problems.

I do want kids, and so does she, but we want to be 'settled down' in jobs first... This gig I have is great, but I'm not 100% job secure, May could roll around and I suddenly get a Pink slip. And she graduates in May and who knows where she'll get a job offer at...

I wish mine had a ladder. My buddy has one on his trailer that is recessed and its not a big deal.

If that trailer has 8 lug axles and isn't beat up and no water damage, 8k is a pretty good deal. The open 50 ft I had was beat up and had some issues, I bought and sold for 9k.

I'm going to send that link to Rosco actually.

No living quarters but has a/c so it's possibly finished out to a degree.
