Sounds like a sweet boat hauler.

LOL, wont have the GVW to pull the boats I am looking at! :D

I still have the 3 PSD's for pulling duties. Actually just got the newest one from the fab shop yesterday afternoon...new Bull Buster Bumper and hydro bale bed installed. Now it needs to go to the tire shop....

CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU!!!!

quick question. i don't really know how to word this for a search. are the axles and knuckles from a HP 30 and LP 30 the same?

basically, if i cant get down to sammys parts jeep and steal the knuckles for the 30 i got from Tyler then i would have to get them off the one i am running. and i am curious about the shafts for spares.

D-Max it. At this point, find yourself a late model diesel and do a body swap. C is already pissed at you. :D

Tyler's case is an exact example of where this statement applies...

I'm trying to take all this in...

the shafts and knuckles should be the same as long as they are the same era d30s...the only difference is an older d30 could have the vacuum disconnect.

Mac is correct. If both axles are non- vacume the shafts and the knuckles will swap back and forth. The thing you have to remember is if taking rotors and such off one axle make sure you get the UB for that year.

we just took the knuckles, all brake parts and shafts out of my LP 30 from a 2000 and put them in /on a HP 30 we have no idea what year it came out of. Works perfect.

Thanks Dan but i shouldn't need another one. what i have going on is chzmans (complete)axles going into my rig. but he was running heim joint steering so the knuckles were drilled out. if i want stockish steering i need to swap knuckles. my pile is a 00 with LP dana30. i am not sure what his was out of. i think i am gonna assume everything will be ok and then if it bites me when everything is apart i will deal with it then. that's how i roll.

in the words of flexy, "I wanna get this axle in but i have to get my new DD on the road first"

you should be fine. just make sure to use matching rotors and hubs as there is a "hat" height change in the rotors...that I think you're probably already aware of.

Rew, Here is the skinny on those axles: The housing is an 87 era disco housing w/ factory 4.10 gears. I put on knuckles off a 99 and the shafts are the 297X jointed shafts (non disco of coarse) out of a 99 as well. The bake calipers and rotors are also for a 99. I chose to use the disco housing due to strength and the cast upper control arm mount. You should be just fine to use or keep your LP axle shafts and your knuckles should work just fine along with its current brake set up. The shafts that are in it are the same as what you have in your LP, so no real need to change unless you just want to. The rear axle needs a pinion seal for sure, but should be bolt in ready. Hope that helps ya.

Cheese "and what mac mentioned too" Man

Shawheat. thanks, if you put all 99 stuff in then all my stuff should all work.

now where is the "what to do before WF thread" :D

in other news i only owe 73 bucks on my xj's loan!

I am officially the owner of a 1967 Chevy step side short box. Going to drive out to get it a week from Saturday. MAJOR project since it is a rolling chasis and a gutted cab and everything else is in boxes or in the bed. No drive train but it will be receiving a full 5.3 w/ auto drivetrain. Already have a line on some drop spindles and coils....gonna roll 18's up front, 20's in the back and probably even wear my hat backwards.

Cheese "new projects rock" Man

I know a guy with a hot 454 for that thing.

Another topic. We were watching some end of the world show today. I grisly dont believe anything is going to happen, but, you never know right? (Y2K lol).

Who here maybe has enough canned/dried food to make it a week of two without outside power or resources? I m not talking crazy prepper crap, just enough to get you and your family by for awhile.

We have "minimums" that must be kept on hand at all times.
this is for various things. 6 months is the minimum time frame. I figure if I can't get our shit together and figure ot a way to feed ourselves after 6 months of living on stored goods, then we should die anyway for sucking.

But every 80,000 miles (or so) divided by the average miles per hour that AMC thought people drove in the 80s, you get that pesky Check Emissions light... well, knowing you I'm sure your timer box has long since been removed.
lol. don't even have functioning lights, or a radio at this point. That box and the stupid intermittent wiper box next to it went away a while

From what I've read this is caused by a broken solder connection in the information center. Many have been able to open it up, fix the solder joint and get it working again.
I know a guy...

I need to find a wiring diagram to by pass it.

This one says that the coolant sensor is BAD. Unfortunately I have found at least three sensors in the coolant lines that could be bad...so I don't know which one to replace.
Chances are that it's just got a single wire that the door switch grounds. ust pop the door switch out, remove and secure the wire going to it. It will think the door is shut from there on out.

We really need to have a sensors, multimeter and you class sometime buddy.

Nate, I like your style. I am glad I have you in the friend category on my phone. And you keeping Jenny around does not hurt either :D
