there was no crash in this situation...i wasn't there but heres what i infer...

dans fuel system quit working...people tried to help fix it as would anyones friends if their rig quit working...while working with fuel, something sparked a fire. then people jumped in to help again and got the fire out fairly quick...thats all i need

gas is a dangerous substance, anytime you work on a fuel system its a dangerous task...i've had some close calls working on small engines and vehicles when fuel is involved. all i need to take away from the situation is a reminder to be careful when working around gas

that's pretty much what happened.

Ron, the reason we're not telling a grand story is because there is no story. it happen during the repair of my Jeep, nothing that tech guys would ever have to be concerned about. we play with hot things and gasoline, sooner or later something's going to happen. and yes, we were sober. I don't know what else you wanna know

if you want to know more...you should've been there...

mac 'drunk now...but sober when the shit hit the fan' gyvr

sorry I asked. I didn't realize they were the same incident. Good vibes headed both your ways for a speedy recoveries.

I wish I could have been there. Would have been much better than resealing my uncles asphalt driveway.

nothing to be sorry about. You are not making a federal case out of wanting to know what happend. and like you said, you did not know they were related incidents

Folks...

1) No one "Pooped in my Cheerios".
2) I am NOT making a "Federal Case" out of anything, I asked a simple question ,2X now, followed by an observation.
3) I have been polite in the extreme.

At least 3 people asked the same question: "How did it happen", and what they meant by that was not where, but "Why". Simple enough to answer unless one has a reason to be sheepish about it, and best answered by the folks directly involved.

Hey, once the guy next to me in the pits started his car on fire. He just came off a run, changed his jets, and didn't mop up the gas. When he started the car without an air filter, it lit up. Helped him put it out and push it on the trailer. Things happen, but there is a REASON they happen. In his case, it was not respecting the fuel and making sure that it would not ignite if a spark happened. He was lucky, it only cost him a night of racing.
It appears that in this case, the result was a partially burnt vehicle and some burnt feet (Damn!)

I am bull dogish about people not giving me an honest answer to an honest question. I trouble shoot things for a living, and often if I pose a few polite and simple questions I can generate up a time line of conditions that caused the problem to "suddenly start". It saves time and effort chasing red herrings.

Mac, I hope our Wife get's better soon! Burns are not my favorite injury; they are painful when they happen and can be tender long afterwards.

Dan, I am sorry to have caused you any discomfort in coming out and posting what happened. You are right, you can't Tech for that, but there is a serous possibility that we can learn from your experience.

I have to say that this has been interesting.

and the way you come across on the internet is some guy who was not there, and doesn't know the full story, but wants to play investigator and figure out exactly who and what should be blamed. I'll be honest, I found myself going "oh jeesh what the hell is this, the Spanish Inquisition?" every time you kept poking for more.

^ what he said

the parties involved arent stupid..... they know why it happened and how to prevent future happenings, and were all thankful that nobody was seriously injured. We don't need a federal investigation or blaming anyone at this point.

I am not defending Ron in any way what so ever, but him asking for details into what happened and how it happened isn't that bad in my opinion. I am also on the curious side as to how things happened to end up the way they did. I understand there was a fuel problem. I understand there was a fire, it was put out, and Grace got the worst of it. But, how did the fuel get all over and how was it ignited? Those are my two questions.

I am not sure if I am crazy or just stupid, but I made an offer on a boat this morning....It is badass to say the least, but I am 8K under what they are asking so it may get shot down...did I mention it is bad ass? I may own it, I may not....but if I do I know I got it for good money. Now, I am going to have to break teh news to momma if they accept my offer....pshh, what is money anyhow?? :D
