Important

apparently i went wheeling last night at my buddys farm. upon further inspection this morning, i found my new front skid in the shape of a taco, the entire jeep covered in mud, my passenger visor ripped in half, tree bark on the dash, a busted rear yoke, rear strap bolts snapped off, and the ring and pinion in my d35 was growling at me when i pulled it into the garage. but no fear, i put my 8.25 in it and fixed everything else in under a few hours, and did a tune up. drove it to vincennes tonight and it rode like a caddy.

disco "out wheeled a group of samis" steve.

"Apparently", huh? Sounds like the sauce was the driver last night.

Note to self: Do not build a trailer with single wide parts.
Josh, is your "self" the Important thread? What'd you do?

One of my Marines called me yesterday because he knew I had a welder. I have no real welding skills, but having the equipment is better than not having the equipment.

Not sure about the north, but it's common practice here in the south to take a busted up mobile home, strip the rails and axles, then build a car/utility trailer out of it.

The folks who built this one cut the axles in the middle to shorten them, then laid a really nice bead on top of the joint, covered up by some 1/8" angle iron. He bought it for $400 at a farm auction and used it for a couple months before he realized the axles were about to split in two.

The axles were welded right to the frame with no suspension, otherwise he would have lost the wheels a long time ago.

house trailer axles are not built for repeated use, the bearings are cheap and are designed to make the trip from the factory to the home site. you can buy upgraded bearings for these however, but then you run into the tires being junk and you're on the side of the road changing tires when you should be at your destination wheeling. :) however, the up side to the cheap tires is that they're cheap. you can buy a mounted tire for $30 around here, but like the saying goes, "buy two, they're cheap".

the answer to your question Josh, yes, we do that here too. that's how I have this information.

MICHIGAN!!!! were most people cant even tell the difference from north and south ;)

I have had no less then 50 calls or texts on selling the XJ and only 1 person has showed up to look and then wanted to try and trade me a RC car, a deer rifle (cheap ass 30-30) and $2000. Seriously people? I cleaned it all up yesterday and did not realize how nice of a rig it really is. There is ZERO rust under this thing and other then a few very minor dents it is in outstanding shape.

My favorite call so far is "can you make the lift around 3" instead of 6.5"?" I said yes, and I can make chocolate chip cookies too, but I wont you freakin moron!!

Cheese "hate to cut up a rig, but I will" Man

There's a few ways to tether a phone to a laptop. Usually, the supported ways require a fee paid to the cellphone carrier. Me, I rooted my Droid and turned it into a mobile WiFi hotspot.

You want to be careful doing this, even if you're doing it the official approved way. Don't go over your dataplan allowance. And even if you're on an "unlimited" plan, I keep hearing about a 5gb cap.

Blew 8" of snow off the slab this morning, the city plows left a 16" berm at the bottom of the drive. I did not get as much as predicted. Probably a third of my coworkers are not making it into the office either.

Once I get stuff fixed with RedHat, I'll probably go fire up the blower again, and clear out a couple of the neighbor's drives.

so you have to be rooted? that will void the warranty and insurance though right? unless you un root it?

Not necessarily rooted. Depends on your carrier, and what they expressly authorize. Verizon doesn't, so I rooted my droid. Yes, you can get some grief re: warranty service. If you don't grok that stuff, don't root.

You can also look into PDAnet, which provides BlueTooth wireless tethering.

side note i have recently discovered that my xj is soon to no longer be my gf's main form of transportation. we will be getting her car back from TX and she will be driving that everyday. so i dont want to get to crazy but im thinking i can wheel this thing a lil harder now. but i need parts and have no money...suggestions?

Did I miss something? What are you selling?

my last remaining little Nissan chore truck died last week and I need to replace it quickly. It is fun to have raround, but I have to have a chore truck and the big trucks are way to heavy to get around in this muddy sloppy mess and not tear the holy hell out of everything. If it is not sold this week it is getting chopped.

Lets see we can start by trimming up your fenders free

pull off your front and rear sway bars free

trim up your bumpers a bit free

buy that lift i told you about 100 bucks

Weld in some square tube for rockers couple hundred

lets do the top 3 before winterfest :D

Question:
P0122 (TPS/Switch A Circuit Low Input)
P1694 (Fault In Companion Module)

After banging some drifts to get out of the driveway (125yrds). I pull into the gas station 10 min later to get something to drink and leave it running while I go in. I come out and it shut off. Go to crank in the "On" position and only the odometer and oil pressure gauges come off of zero. Normally everything comes off of their rest position. It cranks well, no spark, no fuel. Pump is good (I have a jumper switch wired as a primer). So its not telling it to spark or run the pump in the crank position.

So I'm thinking the ASD relay, TPS, maybe CPS (ugh, it's two years old and an OEM part) and possibly bad cluster.

Before I start a thread, any quick input?
