Detroit must truly be the 7th ring of hell.
Actually, no. That would be Illinois.
It's gotten so bad here that people are considering a move to Indiana a big improvement.

xj4life, since you're an ME, did you find a decent job in NW Indiana or are you commuting somewhere? La Porte is a pretty nice area.... can't be any worse than Detroit.

i really havent started working on finding a job yet. i found a race shop in LaPorte that is looking to hire a fabricator and lots of experinece is not needed :yelclap: . but its apply in person so who knows what its like. if i stick with engineering i'll probably look towards Michigan City or South Bend.

If you get over to Michgan City, keep an eye out for this:

I mainly lurk here for info on my wifes XJ, but there a little to small for me. Email me some info on the type of engineering wok you want to do, and I can try to give you some names. I'm in architecture, by the way.....

doesn't the "dude" wear plaid shorts?

I have a buddy in Posey county, southeast indiana I think...he is a great guy and knows a lot of Indiana folk. by the way, plaid shorts are still cool in Cali, so it must be ok?

yeah, where I live we have a lot of people coming from both California & Ill. But you have to admit it is cheaper to live here....for now at least. Our county (Hancock) is growing way too fast, we need three new high schools, and in my area it will double the property taxes when they build it. Were one of the fastest growing counties in the state.
There is a lot more to do here, but then I am right next to Indy and there is plenty to do there. Especially once racing season starts in March and all the way through Nov. Now if there were just more places to off road.

Im south east of Laporte about 25 miles if I can answer any question feel free to ask. Been in this area my whole life.

Well we accepted an offer on the house. Still waiting on a home inspection and septic inspection so I'm trying not to get to excited but I don't see either of those being a problem. Looks like I should be moving down to LaPorte some time in February.

I'm only a half hour away, drop me a line! Laporte use to have a killer store that was a combination pet store(where I bought my Ball Python) and RC store. It's closed now.

When did they close (I think it is called like Finish Line / Last Stop pets and toys)? I used to go in there ever "blue moon". It was a sweet store

Michigan City is a great town. Chicago is close. Redemack's is close in New Buffalo, MI. You'll be in "Da Region." No cooler place in the midwest! Have fun!
