I'm looking for somewhere to buy propylene glycol. I've searched the net and found a place, but they are asking $730 for a 55 gallon drum. Is this the going rate or is there somewhere cheaper? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm predicting this thread will be moved. Maybe to off-topic. Can't be sure. My crystal ball is fuzzy in that area.

What do you use it for?

Propylene glycol is used:

* As a moisturizer in medicines, cosmetics, food, and tobacco products
* As a medical and sexual lubricant (A.K.A. "personal lubricant")
* As a flavoring agent in Angostura and Orange bitters
* As a solvent for food colors and flavourings
* As a humectant food additive, labeled as E number E1520
* As a carrier in fragrance oils
* As a food grade antifreeze
* In smoke machines to make artificial smoke for use in firefighters' training and theatrical productions
* In hand sanitizers, antibacterial lotions, and saline solutions
* As a main ingredient in many cosmetic products, including baby wipes, bubble baths, and shampoos
* As the primary ingredient in the "paint" inside a paintball
* As a base ingredient in aircraft deicing fluid and some automobile antifreezes
* In cryonics

Try this place, (Admin Edited: Domain removed) , this is where we purchase all of our glycol. I believe we pay about $9.00 or $10.00 per gallon- somewhere around $500.00 to $550.00 per drum, plus a deposit on the drum. Specify that you want USP Grade Propylene Glycol. They use an inhibitor package that provides a pH level consistent with equipment manufacturer's recommendations – and it protects against bioactivity and corrosion. Plus, I think they even have free shipping.

This is what it looks like when one person registers two accounts, then thinks they can get away with spamming. Cute
