what precautions do i take when welding on my mj, do i just disconnect the battery or is there somethimg else to it

apply a thin layer of weld-b-gone over and near the ares you'll be welding on.

Disconnect the battery as a safety precaution. Every welder manual I've read, and professional welder I've ever discussed this with has taught me this. There is a small chance the hydrogen gas discharging from the battery could explode from a spark. A small chance but if a hydrogen explosoin in the battery was to occur you'll really wish you did it.

Just disconnect the negative...It only takes a few seconds to take this precaution...why risk something happening because you were to lazy to undo one battery cable. In most likely hood nothing would occur if you did not do this but why take the chance?

That and attach the ground as close to what you're doing as possible. Don't let the current run through shocks or near the computer.
