ok so i've made the plunge i purchased an XJ last night. its a 92 4dr 4wd auto.. already has a little bit of lift and tires. but it definitely has issues, the kid i purchased it from beat on it daily i do believe. the wiring is a effin mess its got a tranny issue and the list goes on and on for little things here and there. the guy used and abused it in the mud so i've also got alot of cleaning to do and then i'll be tearing it down and seeing what i can make of it. It did come with an extra engine, tranny, and transfer case. and im told that the extras are legit and in working order. it was a very interesting ride home last night in it going from a civic to a lifted box of awesomeness with issues was kinda terrifying but i made it. i'll gladly take any advice anyone has and will probably be asking enough questions to annoy the hell outta everyone here so ready yourselfs.. i'll throw up some pics by the end of the day if i get a chance here at work. cant wait to get this thing all sorted so i can take it out and have some fun.

Hey welcome to the party !

and please dont "thorw-up" pics, Post them!

Ed has a weak stomach, i dont think he could handle vomit pics. LOL

Welcome to a whole new addiction. I was a vw nut /hot rodder I found a new home he with a good group of people

ok will "post" pics soon dont want anyone getting sick after i throw them up.lol. anyways i got i question issue i just discovered after getting a little break from work apparently i'm having brake booster issues.. kind of strange that i was able to drive and brake just fine on the way in to work this morning and now a big fat NOTHING.. when turned on brake pedal can go all the way to the floor and stays. but when its turned off i can pump the brakes a bit and it seems fine and then once i crank back up bam same problem after trying to apply brakes maybe 2 or 3 times. any ideas? it would be nice to be able to get my new baby home with brakes tonight haha. have tools and garage here at work so some advice would be awesome

The brake boosters are vacuum operated so I'd start there. Make sure that the hose going from the booster to the intake manifold is in place and in good shape, then check the other vacuum hose connections including cruise and the vacuum bottle inside the front bumper on the passenger side. Also check to make sure there's plenty of brake fluid and look at both calipers and rear wheels to see if there's any brake fluid on the back side from a possible leak.

Welcome to the playground!!

Like Dave said, check for a vacuum problem first.

i past a little spot on the way home and couldnt resist this is after a very quick spray off.. now its time to get into her and start tearing it down and seeing what i can make of my first jeep.. well first 4wd of all time.. i'm totally green just like my jeep.. first thing to go is the yellow just cant do the john deerish theme thing.. wish me luck guys and hopefully i can get it all sorted and see some of you real soon out and about

Yeah, you definitely have some cleaning up to do! Looks like a good start though.

ordered new rockers today and found a complete 89xj for cheap cheap that i may go pick up tomorrow that the guy said wasnt running at the moment but was within the past month. hopefully going to use that for parts the body and int looked really good on it so i'll have something to pull apart.. and the 89s have dana 44s out back right? also figured out i cant get a really good deal through a find on rhino lining so that'll also be in the works.. oh and the brakes are sorted so i can stop again which is i good thing. so if i get the 89 i'll also post what i dont want in the sale section and let you guys have at it.

The d44 is a rare find in an '89, all depends on what package it has. I got mine out of an '87, which seems to be the most common.

Welcome to Naxja! i got a 91 xj.. xj's are fun to drive.. i drive mine more then i drive the rubicon..
are you going to repaint the rims black and bumper black?

Mark

yeah the yellow will be gone today if i can help it i really cant stand that color for some reason i'd have rather them be a bright pink than that yellow... but yeah they will be going black today or tomorrow if i can help it at all. then its onto more cleaning so i can see what i got going on everywhere and a mini tune up just to make me feel better also going to go through and replace all the fuses hopefully, im glad i got a friend at the parts store. and as for all the welcomes well i'm really glad to be here and cant wait to get out and go have some fun in this thing

Hot pink! paint the whole thing hot pink! custom plate : HOTPINK....

ok.. maybe not.

You are definetly in the right place. Anything you need help with or can't figure out is all here at your fingertips. And congrats on your first 4wd being a Jeep, a Cherokee at that.
