Folks....

A very important bill has left committee today with a 12-1 favorable support for HB148, the Family Protection Act, which is esentially our Conceal Carry Bill.

We need 71 votes for a veto-proof, as well as pre-emption bill.

I know many of you are gun owners.

I would urge you guys to call your representative today, no matter what the party affiliation is and URGE a vote of support for this bill.

please call right now!

The bill will be called for a floor vote, most definitly tomorrow, here is the a/v link:

let's try to make history tomorrow.

thanks,

bj

I am not an Ill resident, but whenever our civil rights are on the line its a big deal and those residents of the great state of Ill need to act.

Nice to see ya around BJ.

Hope this passes, it would be a great leap forward for your state.

hey all you sleepyheaded illinois so-called gun lovers....

your right to carry your firearm is being debated on the floor of your capital right now!

follow link.

left side audio link is the only one that seems to be working.

btw, HB30 legalization of medical weed failed.

sorry stoners......

It failed.... 65 for... 32 against. As was expected. The Daley-ites will never allow it to happen.

Good luck Illinois.

To many Illinois folks act like they don't have a chance. You guys have to be active. Make those calls, do what Beez is doing.

Thanks Beezil! We have to fight as a country for this.

Big Hank

According to the NRA, a Rep in Wausau introduced a no license, concealed carry law before the WI Legislature. It would also over-ride the requirement that your firearm must be unloaded and in a case while in a vehicle.

Well we lost by 6 votes. All we can do is keep the fight up. I know I will be one of the first in line for my permit if / when it passes...

Illinois gun owners:

If you want to join the fight, please visit Illinoiscarry.com

don't just lurk, but register, and consider participating in the fight.

consider a memembership to the NRA, ISRA, or perhaps even the SAF, GSL, GOA.

Yes, you are correct zuki ron, wisconsin is working on a RTC bill, but its not what you think....

It's "Right to COLBY" not carry.

Constitutional carry would be a great bill to introduce (again) once we can get house/senate majority.

I'm a little weary of constitutional carry at the federal level, because I'm also a states-rights proponant.

NO STATE should have the right to limit or infringe upon the natural or civil rights enumerated in the BOR.

Had SCOTUS expanded upon, and been more specific about the definition of the word "bear" in the 2A in either/both Heller and/or McDonald, we wouoldn't need to have this discussion, we would be seeking recognition of our rights in Illinois at the judicial level instead of legislative. At the very least, we have a clear decision and definition of the 2A as it pertains to "INDIVIDUAL" stemming from Heller, and the affirmation that Heller applies not only to a federal enclave, but to the states as well, in McDonald.

A Constitutional Carry bill introduced as legislation is a slippery slope, because in order to do that, you would have to define that right not through an expantion of definition within the 2A, rather through an enumerated due process within the 14th ammendment. That can open up a real can of worms with unintended consequences going forward.

It seems prudent to wage war at the state level on two fronts: Legislative and judicial.

Look for the conclusion of HB148 whichever way that goes to bring a lawsuit or two to the state.

well......HB148 off the table!

we're in the driver's seat now.

NO NEGOTIATING.

the 7th cicuit court just ruled that Illinois conceal carry ban is unconstitutional!

any of you illinois gun owners who give a rip about our rights who are not yet ISRA members, please consider a membership today!

also consider a membership to nra, saf or the goa.

Good news! NRA emailed me this afternoon. Happy for you guys! Maybe now I won't have to lock my pistol up when I go home to Indiana.

Hey, Beez. What happened to the FL class?

It'll definitely be interesting to see how this all unflolds. You know the Chi-Town Dems will not go away quietly. None-the-less, still a big, big step in the right direction.

I'm not privy to how the appeals process works but, I'm pretty sure this decision can be appealed yet again.

Hale "cocked, locked, and ready to rock" Yes

So wonder if they don't enact a law in 180 days, wonder if you can carry without a license then.

Josh, it never came together, and i apologize for that...just one of those real life getting in the way sorts of things.

tried to get it going last august, and we couldn't get a weekend figured out, and then of course, hunting season hits, and i pretty much hunt until jan 1st.

sean finally has a place for us (assuming the offer is still good) so the space and location works.

i guess it's just a matter of getting the thing in gear again....

but in light of this new sheppard/moore ruling, i'm sure the gang is going to be having different thoughts.

I will be keeping real close to this issue, as i do, and i will try to position myself to be amoung the first to be certified, in-so-long as any legislative measure allows for nra certified instructors to qualify for Illinois CWP.

You would be subject tot he law as it stands at the time. It would be law enforcement's perogative to act accordingly. You risk arrest for sure, but any charges would probably be summarily dismissed. It would probably cost you at the very least, a couple/few thousand dollars to find out.

If anyone is interested in a Florida license class, a friend of mine might be able to do it. I will ask him.
