if you know anything about older toyota trucks steering i need your help

i am replacing the steering box which is shot in an 82 manual steering 4wd toyota pick up. i cant get the intermediate shaft that goes from the firewall to the gear box off the box. i even pulle off the plate to the gear box, (bad decisioon as know there is fluid everywhere, thank goodness im replacing it) trying to force it off but no such luck. anyone have any ideas?

Id get the new box if you havent already, then it might enlighten you. Thats goeen me by on things before. If its got some sort of pressed on deal then maybe a 3 jaw puller or maybe the little u-joint thingy has to be disassembled. Ive never seen the manual steering toyota besides a FJ40.
