I will trade a D44 for a D35

OK. My wife and I are cutting way back to buy a house and I have to sell my daily driver Ford F150. I can't sell the XJ but I have to convert it back to stock (at least the drive train). So I have a Dana 44 from an 87 that is in perfect condition but it is locked by Lincoln (welded diff) and I can't drive around like that all day so . . . I will trade for a COMPLETE and ready to bolt in STOCK OPEN Dana 35 and a new or rebuilt starter for an 87 4.0. Any takers before I open it to the board? PM me. Thanks.

I live in Manteca and for such a deal, I would like the D35 delivered to me and we can exchange in my drive way.

Ah come-on guys, if I still had my a piece of junk D35 I would just give it to him. Perfect oportunity to get rid of that junk laying around your garage.

Hey Dan, most likely you could find a D35 or 8.25 in a pick-n-pull pretty cheap, like on half-off days. My buddy Mike in Fresno we'll be at one tomorrow, Gore-tex and all. I'll call him to see if he sees one for you.

Dan, this weekend is half price at all pick-n-pulls in the bay area. I plan on going and looking around at a few yards sunday, want to go too? Keep the 44, and just get a cheap axle to put in.

What sean said, though replacing the carrier I think means setting up the gears too?

I've got a 3.55 geared open 8.25 I'm sure my wife would love to give away.

Keep the 44 :D

Hey all, the condition is, is that I have NO MONEY to spend. (all the money goes to the financial planner and I get some chump change to live off for the month). Looking for a house has put me on a TIGHT budget and I cannot afford even 100 bucks right now and setting up gears and a new carrier cost money so I was hoping to just make a quick swap so I can start driving it around town. Bryan, I know this is painful, but I have to think about the wife and child. After we get into a house, I can swap again or do a super 35 or something. Hey, at least I got to keep the xj and sell the ford. small victory. I replied to the pm's.

if he falls through, i have a 35 that you can have.
Anyone going north from fresno?
Drums and shoes are about a year old and it still has the ebrake cables

If you'd rather keep the 44, which is what I recommend, I have a carrier you can have for FREE. I think if it's Lincoln locked; you can just replace the spider gears (?). If you can use this, let me know. Other than you, it's going to go into the garbage.

I believe that 88flexj was the first to PM me and will be switching with me. As for the few questions, it is a 3.07 and the spider gears are welded together to a point that there is no way to brake the welds unless I use a plasma. They were done by a professional axle builder and he did a major job. I would have to put a new carrier in and then set it up and I do not have the time to do that right now. This has to happen quickly as the DD will be gone soon and it was hard enough to keep the XJ and not have to sell that too and drive around a stupid Geo Metro or something. Thanks TRNDRVR for the offer. Good man!

Thanks guys for all the chatter. It is all good. When the wife gets the house, I am going full width so I am already dreaming. The XJ will be a daily driver until the house is bought so a 35 is fine, then I am running to my garage and will have a welder in hand. Thanks again, I just needed a real quick conversion and will work things out.

Hay Dan,
I got a Track lock carrier for a 44 if you'er looking to swap it out, only cost me $35 and now I don't need it.

I also have a open 44 carrier you can have if you want it?

I sold my XJ to a guy that had the 8.25 in it and I bet he would swap axles with you, you want me to check with him?

Thanks David, but I am meeting to do the switch in about 30 minutes. It is a good deal for the situation I am in. 2 axles (front and rear) and a starter in exchange for the 44.
