I was stupid. I'm going to jail.

I made a really stupid decision, and luckily no one got wrecked, hurt or killed.
I got a DUI this past Thanksgiving, and tomorrow I'm going to jail for 30 days because I was also stupid 8 years ago when I got my first DUI.

I admit my stupidity and lack of responsibility. I ask for no sympathy and accept responsibility for my indiscretion.

I do ask one favor, friends. Send me pictures and letters of your work and your "stucks." Help keep me Jeepin' vicariously via correspondence. A month outside passes too quickly, a month inside stands still without something to pass the time.

Learn your lesson this time? Glad no one was hurt.

If i send a large pack of vaseline would that send the wrong message to other inmates:D

Good for you to stand up to your mistakes. Kudos for admitting it.

Well its good your taking responsability for your actions by admitting that was wrong.

Just be sure not to do it again :) if you are DUI then maybe you have a drinking problem and it may help to quit drinking all together? Sure would kill the urge to DUI again.

You will get pics from me. Take care of yourself. Remember... thats ONLY an outy hole so dont listen to Ramsey :D

The fact that you are willing to own up to it borders on exemplary - too bad you don't get that much out here...

All too often I hear from DUI's "In my judgement..." Doesn't matter what comes after that - the first casualty of ethanol is judgement. Once you've been drinking, don't make decisions (except, possibly, when to stop and call a cab.)

At least it's only 30 days for you - I've been to countries where that's "waiting for court" time, and then they get serious. I shan't go into details on how they handle it in the Middle East - brr! I thought I was Draconian!

I do have to second helix tho - this might indicate a problem for you, and you'd do well to analyze this and take appropriate action. I have to admit to drinking - but I flatly refuse to drink and drive - the (most of a) year I spent drunk was also a time when I didn't have a car, so I was on the bus anyhow... When I did drive somewhere with the intention of getting drunk, I had an automatic - so I could start it from the right seat to get the heater going...

Granted, that was in my single days - now that I'm married, I'm not going out on the pull, and I've got someone to help me deal with the things in my head, so I drink a LOT less than I did.

Meanwhile, keep your head down, and check to see if it's not "30, out in 20" out there. Good behaviour can help... If you were looking at a longer stretch (3 months to a year) I'd say to get a job while you're in there - a lot of places will go from 2/3 time to 1/2 time for workers...

How do I know all this? Friends in low places...

As I understand it, in most Middle Eastern countries, the last time I used my head would be just before I became severed from it.

I know I f'd up, and I've quit drinking. (This experience has cost me a lot more than $$ and 30 days of my life, [home, marriage, relationship with child, job] not to go into the gory details.)

EDIT: (These things are being repaired, but it's a slow process)

Now how about those XJ pics?

I was going to bite my tongue and left this thread. But, this isn't setting right with me. You posted, so take it like it or not. And, I don't give a damn who this p's off.

Ever know anyone killed by a DUI driver? I do. I also have a little girl out there on the road, thankfully not in your state. Unfortunately, we have our own irresponsible drivers, as well as the other 48 states. If it was up to me, I'd revoke your license for the rest of your life. Once, now that's a mistake. Or, how's it work... is it like being bankrupt; after so many years you get to start over? Ya, you F'd up alright. But, bet that beer sure was good. And hey, no one was killed, THAT'S GREAT! Hell, everything is alright, right?

And you members are so soft. I don't care if he setup your axles for you. Cause he's a fellow wheeler, you have sympathy? You're supposed to support safe wheeling, on and OFF the f'g road.

Have a great time in jail. Be thankful it wasn't ten years.

But... that's just my opinion, since we're all posting replies.

what I really want to read about is a Colorado guy who gets a DUI -

that is a 10,000 minumum fine FOR THE FIRST offence...

i agree with you good post, however in order to feel like you 100% i would need to know more details like how drunk he was. now a days it seems like if you have a quick beer (1) and say crap i forgot to get the BBQ sauce i gotta run to the store, and you get pulled over a block away from your house it seems you could potentially be illegal. i too have a little girl and it changed my outlook on alot of things, but if he had 1 or 2 beers and had to drive somewhere i hardly think he was a danger to society. BUT if he was S**t faced i think there is no excuse and i don't feel sympathetic at all. i guess by me being kind i was giving him the benefit of the doubt.

no matter how drunk he was the law is the law but in my mind there are levels of drunkeness, we've all made bad decisions in our lives but this could have ended up much worse, good thing it didn't
