I know many don't want another war BUT.....Ira needed a thread to vent in

ISIL needs to be crushed and brought to extinction! The fact that they are getting away with what thay are doing says alot about the rest of society! We need another Nimitz/MacArthur to wage all out war on this crap we call terrorism. Enough is enough....already! Your thoughts?? :us:

Re: I know many don't want another war BUT..

I don't disagree with your stance on the group but this country cannot afford another war.

Which is exactly what they are counting on! They want the US to be out of the fight because we are one of the few super powers that can make them a distant memory.... Why do you think they are doing what they are doing .... because the US has just spent the last 13ish years fighting Al-Qaeda, the Taliban and spending WAY to much money doing it... We need to get politics out of the WAR and sink our teeth in!

Re: I know many don't want another war BUT..

In the political section, sure, why not. I'll get rid of this one, when you have.

I was refering to having our own: Colorado Political Discussion Thread

I was asking instead of just doing it and having it deleated.

Your thoughts?

Re: I know many don't want another war BUT..

Meh. Don't you argue enough with peeps in the chapter? :) Sounds like more work to me.

Re: I know many don't want another war BUT..

I'll bite, I haven't e-argued with Ira in a while.

Why is it that the mightiest military in world history (double the budget of all other nations combined) has been struggling with al queda for over 13 years ( I'd say since the first Iraq hostilities under Bush I, but I digress)? Because for every one "insurgent" we kill, along with "collateral damage", i.e. kids, wives and the elderly, we create three more "extremists" curiously pissed off that we have killed their families?

Could it be that the hate and anger flowing from ISIS has anything to do with our arbitrary murder by drone strategy throughout the region? Might ISIS simply be yet another outgrowth of al queda, angrier, and better armed (since we armed and trained them in our zeal for regime change in Syria)?

I'll be one hundred percent on board with killing as many of them as you like in actual defense of the US. As long as we remain on the offensive in their region, and continue to piss away our wealth while acting as ISIS' greatest recruiter, I'll pass on my support.

LOL... yeah sometimes but not so much lately. I just thought it good to hear thoughts and ideas from around the chapter. Is is that bad that we cannot discuss things like this and keep it civilized? I mean we regularly talk about a lot of usless stuff, so why not add some usefull information. It does come up here and there, so why not make it HERE. :patriot:

You have a very good point Chris! I believe the reasons people are joining with groups like ISIL is more than just " you killed my family, so I will kill yours". It is more about how the West pokes it nose in everyones business and then acts like " who me" I also believe that our country has not prevailed because politics has injected way to many rules into warfare rendering our war machine nearly useless... We need to take the political gloves off and smash the enemy like our forefathers did!

Re: I know many don't want another war BUT..

So we create an enemy by "poking our nose in their business", which includes plenty of collateral damage (which by the way when the shoe is on the other foot and it's dead American civilians, we call "terrorism"), and your solution is to stick our collective nose in even further, slaughter even more, and somehow we'll get a different result? You do know what the definition of insanity is, right?

Re: I know many don't want another war BUT..

What's fundamentally different about the wars we're fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, etc than other previous wars... is that these are all religion based on their part. We're over there justifying our actions based on NATO principles and some of our own American payback with loose support from allies. Unless we commit to wiping out an entire religion and it's followers (radical Islamics/Muslims)...... This will remain a war that will NEVER be won. The level of personal commitment from their side is unmatchable. No other country, no other civilization will ever match their die-for-their-religion commitment.

Lets also not forget that ISIL's executions of "innocents" is being fed by people who simply can't make a smart decision to STAY THE **** OUT OF THAT PLACE. They're not snatching them from major cities and carting them back to Syria.... these victims walked right into these perilous situations by thinking they can make a difference, or some feeling of duty to report the atrocities, or other "humanitarian" efforts.

**** that whole region. Maintain a guarded border, let them fester amongst themselves and the moment any one of 'em leaves their god forsaken sand pit........ waste 'em.

I continue to struggle with how the Muslim based religions can have such massive differences in the interpretation of their Quran. The followers of this faith can be the most peaceful, kind people....... and clearly among the most evil people on the planet. How is that? Why would any sane person believe that a diety exists who's purpose is to command it's believers to be so evil and hateful.

It didn't work during the crusades and it doesn't work now.

Think of the good we could do by becoming isolationist and eliminating the trillions of dollars we spend on policing the world.

Re: I know many don't want another war BUT..

I like to imagine a world that one day finally come's to the full realization and complete understanding that we are one with one another. That is: in reality there is no country, no state, no religion, no political party, no race, no truth in useless pattern recognition in feeble attempts to rationalize our existence. Obviously for this to happen, our species has to actually grow in all facets of existence.

Someday maybe.

Re: I know many don't want another war BUT..

That thought will get you killed in many countries.

The Muslim Brotherhood was founded in 1928, long before the US poked it's nose in the Mideast. The Euro's had meddled, but not the US. Islam has been at war with the west since it was founded. It's nothing new,

I agree that our being there, and our actions have aided recruitment for terrorists, I don't agree that it is the root cause.

Well said Troy! It would be impossible to have a guarded border that would work as you stated. We rely way to heavily on international traffic for pretty much everything.....

The Quran does preach peace but if you get into the finer details that peace comes at the end of a sword with everyone Islam or dead.

Sadly there are people that believe that thier kind heart can change the ideology of others. It works on a small scale but that is the extent of it.

Religion has been the basis for many wars from the beginning of recorded history. The ones we fight now will not be the last either....

I disagree with nobody matching the extereme islamic die for your religion mind set. If you study your history there have been other that match that kind of ideological extreme. The Templars are famous for it. And if you think about it those that willingly walk as you say it into harms way have done the same as well.

The enemy was created the moment Mohamed founded Islam. The fact that we stick our noses in everyones business just gives them reason to do what they are doing now. There is no cure for what we call "terrorism" as pandoras box has been opened. The only solution the west has is to eliminate the extremists with no concern for collateral damage. Otherwise we will sit in this perpetual fear not knowing when or where the next attack will be come. I for one would rather take the fight to them then have it on my door step. Which is pretty much where we are now.... I know there are those that would rather be passive until they have no choice but by then the fight will be very difficult...
