no kidding on the winch, NOT in the budget. But as we found out on friday, a recovery strap that only has loops and two vehicles with u-loops for recovery points doesn't go well together. Gotta get a couple of clevices (sp?)

Winch is like advanced mod for me, I'm levelling out my XJ and buying recovery stuff.

You can carry a $25 Harbor Freight come-a-long until you have the dough to spring for a winch. You usually only have to move a few feet to get unstuck, I carried one and a couple of times it saved our butts.

Don't waste your time with a front reciever, just get tow hooks for the front. When you get a winch get a good bumper.

Come along is a great idea thanks Richard. I'm not doing custom bumpers but thanks. I already had a car stolen in front of our house last year.
