I have now mastered the art of...

Nope...DNF'd. We got the rear housing welded and borrowed a 3rd member and axle from another team. Went 35 miles to finish the lap and get back to the main pit. Started out on last lap and went 28 miles before the bearing on the new axle disintegrated and the axle came out of the car. That was in a no-chase area and by the time they got the car limped into someplace where we could work it was 1am and we were past the time limit.

That rear had some history - that was the housing that was on our original car...it actually won the first JS race. It had a good life.

Jesus. Sounds like you should start carrying spare axle housings or something. That is some pretty terrible luck.

(no, I am not serious about carrying spare housings)

Wow. Just wow.
I'm starting to see that even when you've finished building a race car, you're a long way from putting your wallet back in your pants...

Build a floater to replace it.

There is something special in the works. We figure if the fabbed housings pass the "automotive style rear end" rule then our new stuff should be OK.

Theoretically.

Your new ATK certainly didn't sound like any of the others out there. I looked under your car but couldn't find where you guys were hiding the wings.
