It is damn near a felony. My friend was driving our other friends car and he was rear ended. Completely 100% the other drivers fault. Since my friend wasn't listed on the insurance and he didn't have his own insurance (because he didn't own a car) he was hit with a driving without insurance and beinging "involved" in a collision (they're not really called accidents any more). His license was suspended and 2 years and he had to pay through the ass on his insurance (when he did get a car) for the next 7 years.

FWIW, the illegal I chased down and held for the PD after a hit and run ended up having to pay restitution to all the people he hit.

Since I wasn't one of the people he hit, I had no money coming so I couldn't tell you if he actually paid or not.....

But at the very least it was ordered by the courts.....

I got rearended by an illegal when I was 16. 6 people crammed in an 84 Olds with plates from a 79 Ford truck. The "insurance" he gave me turned out to be homeowners insurance for a house he didn't own. There was a cop at the scene, but he left after calling for another car. No car ever showed. The illegal that hit me took off. I called my mom, she showed up, along with the parents of two of the girls with me, plus a friend of the third. My mom had enough of waiting and called 911 to report an accident involving 4 minors. Within 15 minutes we had 3 ambulances and a fire truck. Still no cops. I heard from em 3 days later to file a report over the phone. They caught the guy, but nothing came of it. This was in Tucson AZ, bout 2 hrs from the border.

funny story tho, my dad rearended a guy in an intersection once, and the illegal just drove away. we called our insurance agent, says it happens a lot and sent a claims adjustor and we got the car fixed based on uninsured motorist claim. it was sweet.

My son got hit (fender bender) by an illeagal Mexican , same lic and ins situation. The guy started rattling off in spanish thinking he could play dumb. LOL! The guy about sh!t when my son started letting him have it in spanish. Before it was all said and done Richard had his phone #, address, licence plate and the $300 the guy had in his wallet. He ended up getting all of the repair money out of the guy.
The way I see it you should be able to bill the feds for the repair costs since it is their lack of enforcment that allowed this guy to be driving here in the first place.

Rear drivers side axle shaft is toast, and passenger side has a little wiggle to it.

Looks like it'd be dumb of me not to do both Superior Chromloy right now. Stock replacements on 4 Wheel Parts are going for $225 each, pre assembled with bearings, studs, seals, and drum style retainer plates, disc style aren't offered(which I need).I would have to cut the bearings, and seals off, use my retainers, then get new bearings and seals, and press them on again.
4WD Hardware has both Superior Chromoly shafts bearings, studs, and seals, assemble yourself(using the disc style retainer plates I need) for $251.99 for both right now.

Hell if you got the green, go for it! Body damage doesn't look as bad as it could have been all things considered so hopefully insurance still consider it a write off.

a guy did that to my cousin in a neon only he pulled out in front of my cousin's CTS sitting on 20's. The guy ran a stop sign with 2 babies in his back seat my cousin slammed in to the back door of the car. Luckily the kids were unharmed but it took 12k to fix it! Oh and CPD let the bastard go!



I'll always have insurance that covers uninsured motorist on every vehicle i own!

My girlfriend did the same thing. Rearended a truck. The guy stopped, got out, look at the back end of the truck, got back in and off he went. Left the girlfriend there with the front end of her Hyundai smashed in. Good thing she had full coverage though. This was in El Paso, so we're pretty sure he was from across the border.

Well I don't really have a whole lot of choice, I have to replace the shafts, and if chromo shafts are cheaper than stock replacements..... Thats my
story, and I'm sticking to it!
