This is why they say dont talk about religion and politics people are really touchey on those subjects.
LOL!
If you are doing a "Tongue and cheek" statement, it is customary to apply the appropriate emoticons.
"Separation of Church and State" does not cover "Forced Praying" in school. It has been loosely interpreted to mean that, but it does not apply. In fact, Congress generally opens it's sessions with a prayer.
"Separation of Church and State" was meant to prevent the Church from involving itself in affairs of the Government. You have to realize when the Constitution and the Bill of Rights were drafted and what kind of Government they were freeing themselves of.
Prayer can be "forced" on a child, if the child is in a relegious educational school.
That really is a silly premise anyway as prayer comes from the heart and not the mouth.
Gil, a number of schools have opened that can of worms, because they had to. Muslims, for example need to pray X number of times a day. When allowed to do so, the other parents cried "no fair, my child should be allowed to pray", so to keep everyone happy, or atleast the parents, they let them. Then the Athiests cried "Separation of Church and State!" and it all came apart and no one was happy, except the Athiests.
Seems to me we spend more time appeasing some tiny special interest group somwhere and it ends up jaming things for everyone else

For a background, I am a non-practicing Roman Catholic. I respect others right to their religion, and even cotton to the notion that a healthy religious education never hurt anyone, least of all an Athiest because then they know what they are not believing in
