I am NOT a thief

Please allow me to publically make a statement.

As most know i have in the past been the NAC Founder,President and Treasurer. Due to complications in my life with health and new Career i stepped down from these positions.

I'v recently been asked where the funds went from the last account the NAC had that was closed just after the lastest elections. I get the impression that some here think i may have stolen the money from this Chapter. i DID NOT take a cent from this account and have records to prove this.

After i closed the existing account because the fee's had eaten up several hundred of the chapters money i lost the check that i was to use to open a new account elsewhere. At that time i notified the Chapter pres and pres and told them the money was still accounted for. Somehow it appears they did not receive the email.

There is a little over $250 that will be added to the NAC's current account soon.

I wanted to publically say that i am not a thief and would never take a cent from any group of friends in my life. I may have seperated myself from some whom i did not get along with anymore, but the second any of these people accuse me of being a thief i will call them out and ask them to prove any allegations against me.

Having known John B for the last 17 years, he and are like brothers. I can state, without any reservations, that his integrity regarding the funds of this club are unmatched. His devotion to starting the local chapter and his efforts to coordinate and schedule rides, recruit new members, negotiate land access, build new trails, help fellow members with repairs and upgrades, and generally promote offroading in a responsible manner are exemplary. This chapter would not exist without him.

Any accusations against him are unfounded and are, no doubt, as a result of a personal vendetta against him for unknown reasons.

Before this gets blown out of proportion, I think we can just attribute the mix-up to a lack of communication... now that it is pretty much figured out let's let bygones be bygones and get on with the matter at hand.

As the new treasurer, I'd like to coordinate a time to come get said deposit from JohnB and then take care of officially adding my name as a signee to the current account with CHW. Would Sunday 8/17 work for either of you?

I stated above that i dont have the check from closing said account...it's been lost. I'v emailed Eagle with directions you'll have to take to get another check cut.

Now if you'd like to stop by and pick up the bank statements from this prior account i'll be happy to supply you with them.

When i originally posted this earlier today i was absolutely enraged that someone/anyone here would make any accusations/insinuendo's (sp?) that my intentions with this Chapters money would be anything but honorable. I may have been quiet on other issues in the past, but when someone wants to attack my character you better be willing/able to back up your words.....i wont tolerate it in the least!

With that said, i'll be moving on permanently. This actually will hurt me in the end because i'v made some great friends and aquaintances here. I hope that these people will still feel free to contact me...

No John - can't just give you the last word on an open Forum.

Just as you feel threatened and slandered by these alleged attacks on your character, by these public statements you threaten and slander BY IMPLICATION the rest of the Chapter.

It is unfortunate that you were unable to perform your duties as an elected treasurer for whatever reasons, but no one was conducting a secret whispering campaign about you being a thief. Maybe if you answered all those lost e-mails and phone messages over the months, this misunderstanding could have been fixed simply.

Sorry John, I think you're a good guy, but I can't just sit here and let you undermine the efforts of a lot of dedicated folks within NAC. So, you've forced me to make my feelings known as publicly as you have decided to. Whatever demons you see chasing you are of your own creation.

Sorry that you're "moving on", but that is certainly your right.

John, this really should have been handled back-channel. As Mike already stated, there was no whispering campaign, and nobody accused you of being a thief. Nonetheless, as the official elected and charged with the safekeeping of the Chapter's funds, to close out the account, lose the check, and then not notify anyone as to what had happened is more than a little irresponsible. I think if you look at it rationally you will have to admit that. And now that we know what happened, rather than step up to the plate to correct your error, you have passed the buck to the current officers.

The chapter owes you a vote of gratitude for our very existence. It is sad that you have chosen this avenue as your way of parting company from us, but it's your choice. Should you wish to change your mind, I'm sure we'll welcome you back.
